Women's History Month Mini-Edventure Celebration

Join us on Wednesday, March 23 for a series of PK-12 Virtual Field Trips and Guest Speakers celebrating Women's History Month.

Sessions support Art, ELA, Math, Music, Science, PE, & Social Studies.

Time Lapse Painting of Dancer, Misty Copeland

Presented by Friends University Fine Arts Department

Watch as Friends University art and ballet student, Julianna Mattson, paints an impressionistic acrylic masterpiece of the inspiring dancer, Misty Copeland.

A native of Kansas City, MO, Misty Copeland made history as the first African American Female Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre.

When she discovered ballet, however, Misty was living in a shabby motel room, struggling with her five siblings for a place to sleep on the floor. A true prodigy, she was dancing en pointe within three months of taking her first dance class and performing professionally in just over a year: a feat unheard of for any classical dancer. Equality, Sports, and Title IX - TED Ed

Spies & Disguise: American Women During the American Revolution & Civil War

Grades 5-8

From the beginning of our country, women fought right along side their male counterparts, helping to create the United States of American. Follow the journey of American women in a variety of different roles from early camp followers, to spies for the Army, to even dressing up and impersonating being a man to be able to fight in THE original war for independence. Join us to explore primary artifacts from the U.S. Army Women's museum by examining photographs and more for women's contributions throughout history.
