East High has three concert ensembles: Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Freshmen Band. Band students must be enrolled in a concert ensemble to participate in Marching Band and/or Jazz Ensemble.
The Symphonic Band (Band 3-1st Hour) is called the Varsity Marching Band during the first part of the fall semester. After marching band season ends, students must audition to be in the Symphonic Band for spring semester.
10th-12th grade students who do not want to participate in Marching Band can sign up for the Concert Band (Band 2-6th Hour). The Concert Band does no marching band.
All incoming freshmen should sign up for the Freshmen Band (Band 2-2nd Hour). The Freshmen Band will perform with the Varsity Marching Band for all home football games, then transition to a concert ensemble at the end of first quarter.
Students will enhance performance skills on wind and percussion instruments, and will study several different musical styles. Focused on musical growth and ensemble performance, the concert ensembles sharpen skills in tone, rhythm, technique, and expression. The group performs at school concerts, festivals, and community events throughout the year, showcasing their hard work and musical talent.
