5/8/2024 (7:15 AM CDT) | City League and Playoffs Update
By: Michael Lane
Welcome back to the website! We got a handful of things to talk about, so let's get quick into it!
We have a major NEM eSports announcement coming from myself, as I'm planning to fully put in the time into this. Y'all are going to find this crazy, but I will be creating a Podcast for NEM eSports! I want to spread out the word to tons more about what we are doing here, and the Podcast will follow a similar format like this News page that you're reading. First episode will come out soon whenever it is ready, and will be on Spotify and hopefully other platforms!
Alongside that, NEM eSports will also be starting Pre-Registration for the 2024-2025 season. Please keep an eye out on the website and morning announcements for more information on signing up for the next season!
I'm also still updating the 2024 Spring Playoffs page as the tournaments are closing in on the Grand Final matches. Please keep an eye out for the home page on whenever the info comes out to us!
NEM took the long journey to the sacred lands of the 100 year old East High School for the first in-person City League event in USD 259! The game played was Rocket League, and all the teams that participated were Northeast, North, Northwest, Heights, and most importantly since they are hosting the tournament, East High.
All teams played 5 rounds, with one of them being a BYE. Matches were all best of 3. Grand Final was Best of 5.
NEM first went up against a highly skilled East High team that took the ball and ran with it. NEM struggled through the series to connect, since it was their first ever 3v3 match since the Pre-Season in February. East took the win 2-0 against us.
NEM had a BYE round next. As I was the player on the team, we took this time during the break to study some of the other players in the lab. East was joking around with us as we were watching them, shout out to their team for being cool with it.
NEM went up against North High and it was a decent match. NEM took their first win of the event with a 2-0 sweep. Spoiler alert, this doesn't end the story with NEM and North.
Next, NEM went up against Northwest, and NEM had a very easy series against them taking the win 2-0.
For the last round, which was a very important round for all of us decided the fate on who will go to the Grand Finals, or the 3rd Place Match. NEM went up against Heights, and honestly if we were playing our best Rocket League, it would of been a very good series. Doing to studying with the Heights players, we could find holes in both their offense and defense but it wasn't enough for NEM. Heights took the series win against NEM, winning 2-0. This match moves Heights onto the Grand Final, and NEM to the 3rd Place Match.
It was up to North and Northwest for the final decider for the 3rd Place Match spot, as North took the win in their game to move onto the 3rd Place Match against us, NEM. NEM had a very close call in Game 1, but took the series win anyway 2-0, putting NEM as the 3rd Place Team!
Heights and East took to the main stage and played in a Best of 5 Grand Final. Heights would take the series win 3-1, becoming the 2024 Wichita City League Rocket League Champions! Congrats to all of the teams for their hard work. And to add, it was one of my most favorite experiences in high school as a Griffin, playing for my school!
Other teams that are competing in the Playoffs currently are closing in on the 3rd Place Matches and the Grand Finals.
Mario Kart wrapped up the Playoffs yesterday, Atascocita HS take the win in the Grand Finals against the ND Gladiators, becoming two-time HSEL Mario Kart Atlantic Division Major Champions in a 2-0 sweep. Congratulations! It was a DP Panthers V.S. DP Panthers matchup for the 3rd place game, as team 1 takes the 3rd spot! Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work this season!
The Indy Knights and the HSA Dallas Varsity team will go against each other tomorrow in the Grand Finals for the HSEL Spring Major Championship for VALORANT! Lee High School will go against the Dragons: Gretna team in the 3rd Place Match.
Heritage Hall Chargers will go against a team that NEM played against in the Grand Finals for the YWC Spring Championship for Rocket League 2v2. The NTHS Rams and the RCS Explorers will go against each other for the 3rd Place Match.
Crooms Academy and the SHS Golden Tornadoes will go against each other in the YWC Spring Championship for Overwatch 2 later today! Hebron High School Varsity team will go against the Epic Comets Bule team in the 3rd Place Match.
Good luck to all players and teams for a good Grand Final!
Thanks for taking the time and reading on what has been going on inside NEM eSports. Once again, please keep a look-out on details for Pre-Registration for the 2024-25 season! Podcast details should also go live sometime this week, be on the lookout for that! And as always, have a wonderful week!
4/30/2024 (8:00 AM CDT) | Playoffs - Week 2 (Quick Update)
By: Michael Lane
Hello, and welcome to a very quick update on what's happening in NEM eSports.
As you may tell, the website is constantly changing. It is my important job to make sure this website is up-to-date constantly for all of the NEM students and staff. Here are the major changes to the website that you have might noticed.
Since the 2024 Spring Season is now in the books after the Rocket League match yesterday, you can find the 2024 Spring Season in the "Past Seasons" tab located here or in the navigation bar.
2024 City League has it's own tab, located here or in the navigation bar.
HSEL offers a summer league. We don't have any information about it yet, but NEM eSports will be participating it over the summer! Click here for more information.
The "Watch Us Play!" tab has been wiped since there will be major shake-ups over the break. Please wait until more information comes out.
VALORANT Play-In matches and the VALORANT and Overwatch 2 Grand Finals have been postponed due to the extreme weather over the weekend. Rocket League 3v3 City League matches will be this Friday at East High. Click here for more information!
Week 2 of the Playoffs kicked off yesterday with one team standing, the Rocket League 2v2 team. NEM went up against Pine Grove High School and the skill gap showed in this match. NEM lost the series to Pine Grove 0-4 in a sweep, knocking NEM out of the Playoffs. Good luck to Pine Grove High School in the rest of the Playoffs!
East High School's and Education Imagine Academy's VALORANT team's are currently still alive in the HSEL Playoffs. They are both in the Quarter-Finals. Good luck to both teams!

4/26/2024 (9:45 AM CDT) | Playoffs & City League - Week 1
By: Michael Lane
This week was busy for everyone at NEM eSports. Playoffs, City League, even the Senior Show? It's been very busy for myself too. Working at my job, and a couple of late nights on-campus here. Yes, I did stay past 7 PM just for eSports, plus for the Senior Show too.
Throughout this week, I've been working my hardest to keep the whole school updated on NEM eSports with TV AD's, being "The voice of NEM" (I like to call myself that) with the morning announcements, and working on the center of it all, this website. Meanwhile also making sure my project for the Senior Show is ready to go and catching up on what I needed to get caught up on. It is my complete honor that I get to do all of these fun things for YOU, and moments away I get to do the morning announcements for the last time.
Before going into detail with this week, I feel like it's necessary to return a shoutout to Mrs. Simmons, and shout her our for shouting me out at the commencement ceremony. You are all welcome for all the work I've done to keep eSports and stuff in general here in check for everyone at Northeast, plus your support to me this entire school year is greatly appreciated. There is so many people that I need to thank and it's hard to get to them all, but thank you. I love you all!
Let's get me out of the way, let's focus on the important details. Playoffs and City League!
(Insert cool moving text and music that I included in my stream. Haha!)
Anyway, this week is a week that most teams want to forget about. As a player myself, we all feel free from the fact that majority of us (including us senior's) don't have to play in a match anymore.
NEM's Overwatch team kicked off the week with a match against Bishop DuBourg High School. NEM took the win 3-0 advancing to the next round. Two days later, it was time for Round 2. Overwatch had 3 games played that day, and it all ended up in losses. NEM went up against CHS Cougar eSports and NEM lost to them 0-3. NEM is knocked out of the YWC Playoffs for Overwatch. Good job to the entire OW team for an amazing season.
NEM's Mario Kart team kicked off the craziness that was Wednesday with the first match, going up against the main team for the FLVS Fury eSports group. FLVS Fury: MK1 finished 3rd place in last season's MK8D HSEL Playoff tournament, and NEM managed to get the 1st round BYE for being in the Top 8. NEM lost the series 0-2, going 62-94 in match 1 and 64-92 in match 2. To watch the match replay from my perspective, click here! Best of luck to the FLVS team throughout their Playoff journey and good job to the entire Mario Kart team for their best season yet!
NEM's VALORANT team were next on Wednesday as they went up against the SSC eSports team. NEM unfortunately took the loss going 0-2. Match 1 started on "BIND". NEM had a rough start with SSC getting an 11 round streak with NEM on the "T" side, with NEM getting a win on the 12th round before switching to the "CT" side. NEM would lose the match 4-13. Match 2 was on "LOTUS", and ended up with the same result going 4-13, with total domination from SSC on the T side. Good luck to SSC eSports, and congrats to the VAL team for an amazing comeback and run this season!
NEM's Rocket League 2v2 team were last to play on Wednesday, and went up against Eisenhower High School's 2v2 team. NEM played very well, and took the Bo7 series 4-1 moving onto round 2 in the YWC RL 2v2 Playoffs! To watch the full replay of that match, watch my live stream replay here! NEM will go against Pine Grove High School at 6:30 PM CDT this Monday April 29th! Good luck to the RL 2v2 team!
This wraps up the 1st week of Playoffs. We'll see how the Rocket League guys perform next week!
City League is where all of the Wichita Public Schools come together and play against each other in a district only tournament!
The School's that are participating this year are:
Northeast (us) (RL, VAL, OW2)
North (RL, VAL, OW2)
Northwest (RL)
East (RL, VAL, OW2)
Southeast (VAL, OW2)
South (VAL, OW2)
West (VAL)
Heights (RL)
Education Imagine Academy (VAL)
Overwatch 2's play-in matches were this week. April 27th is the play-in tournament for VALORANT, and the Grand Finals for Overwatch and VALORANT. Next week, May 3rd is the tournament for Rocket League. Information on locations and schedules on where these matches will be taken place can be found on our City League page.
Overwatch played 5 matches against different schools, one of them being a BYE.
NEM first went up against East, losing the series 0-3. Keeping in mind by the fact that one of the players on the East team is the #48 player in North America for Overwatch 2. Yes! I wished I was joking!
Round 2 was a BYE.
Round 3, NEM went up against North. NEM loses the series 0-3.
Round 4 began the 3 games in 1 day for the NEM Overwatch team, going against South and losing to them 2-3 in a close series.
Round 5 wrapped up the year for City League for NEM, playing against Southeast. NEM loses the series 0-3.
That wraps up week 1 of City League!
The majority of the players in NEM eSports are all seniors this year. This week allowed us to reflect on how everyone did, the good and the bad included. Now, us seniors, we're free. Now we don't have to worry about playing our best in eSports. What we can do is help shine the light for the rest of the underclassman and juniors that are in eSports to do their best and root for them as much as possible.
For me? I don't plan to do eSports in college, but that idea might change. For NEM? I'm not going anywhere, and I'm going to make sure this website stays updated as much as possible for you, the Northeast Magnet community, because I'm so close to it and I can't go away.
As always, please be sure to check back here every week for updates about NEM eSports. To watch our games please click here! For the Playoff results, please visit here! For City League schedule and results, please visit here! For the Regular Season results, please visit here! Past seasons? Click here! To also view the official TV AD's played on the TV's inside Northeast Magnet, click here, and everything else can be found in the navigation bar on the top of the page! Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Griffins!
4/19/2024 (11:00 AM CDT) | Round 6, Make-Up Week, and the Chase for the Playoffs
By: Michael Lane
With the long 4 day weekend (5 for me, teehee) I took last week off from writing the news, but we have a TON to go through today. Let's get to it!
Smash Bros players did not play, including during the Make-Up Week. Unfortunately, goodbye to that game for us.
Kicking off with the Mario Kart team, and as in good fashion they pick up the win 2-0 against the 44th positioned Evertech eSports team. NEM won Match 1, 95-61. And as well as Match 2, 101-55. NEM finished all of their matches in that 6 week period, the only NEM team to do so. NEM placed #6 in the Atlantic Division with a 5-1 Win/Loss, a 83.333% Game Win Percentage, and a 32.051% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
NEM's Rocket League 2v2 team played a Round 6 match against the 23rd positioned CCA CyberDucks gold team. NEM picked up the series win 3-1 against them helping out the end result for the team!
After that, NEM's VALORANT team took to the stage and went against the #5 positioned Maize High School. Yup, that Maize High School. Maize picked up the win 13-11 against NEM, awarding NEM's first loss from their comeback arc. Maize won 12 of those rounds by elimination, and the other by bomb detonation. It only gets crazy from here for the NEM VAL team.
Moving forward to the next day, NEM's Overwatch team went up against the #22 positioned Texas Tiger eSports team. NEM unfortunately got swept by them 0-3 picking up their first loss of the Spring Season.
This will wrap up the entirety of the main 6 rounds of the Regular Season. Now, onto Make-Up week!
Make-Up week is the last chance for any team that missed a queue during the Regular Season. The team that has missed a match can queue as many times as they want until they played all of their 6 matches. Some team(s) played multiple matches, so we'll divide them in sections.
NEM's RL 2v2 team were missing one match during the Regular Season, so they only needed to play one match!
The NEM RL team went up against the #4 positioned CBC Esports team, and NEM took the loss 0-3. NEM finishes the season in 18th, with a 3-3 Win/Loss, 50% Game Win Percentage, and a 46.535% Opponent Game Win Percentage, completing all of their matches and being Playoff eligible!
After 6 Rounds, NEM's VALORANT team played 3 matches. NEM had to play 2 games to be Playoff eligible, and 3 for the full 6 matches. During the Make-Up day for VAL, NEM was able to play all 6 matches. Here's how they went!
NEM first went up against the #45 positioned Mustang eSports League team. This is the second time that NEM has played against them in the Regular Season, and this time it was more brutal than the last meetup. NEM takes home the win 13 - 0.
NEM next played against the #13 positioned EIA Chargers Varsity team, making this an Inter-District match up. Yes, EIA is in USD 259 as the Education Imagine Academy, a full-virtual option that Wichita Public Schools offers to students. NEM lost the match 11-13, but due to "Competitive Ruling" NEM was awarded a free win.
NEM had one more match to go, and it was against the #23 positioned Lee High School "Black" team. NEM clutched the win 13-11 against them, 5 won by bomb defusal, 8 won by eliminations!
NEM's VAL team finishes 9th in the Central division with a 5-1 Win/Loss, 83.333% Game Win Percentage, 53.333% Opponent Game Win Percentage, and a 34 round differential. They completed all of their matches and became Playoff eligible!
NEM's OW2 team were also missing out on one match.
NEM went up against the #14 positioned Reach Cyber Varsity team, and it wasn't the best day in the office for the Overwatch crew. NEM lost the series 0-3. NEM finishes the regular season in the 29th positioned, 4-2 Win/Loss, 52.174% Game Win Percentage, and a 57.143% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
Starting April 22nd is the Playoffs for both HSEL (High School Esports League) and YWC (Youth Winner Circle). In typical Playoff fashion, each bracket is single elimination. Some games, like Rocket League and VALORANT may play more matches in the Playoffs.
Congratulations to the following NEM eSports teams for making the Playoffs!
Rocket League - 2v2
NEM Mario Kart 8 Team
NEM VALORANT Team
NEM Overwatch 2 Team
Here is how the Playoffs will look like for each team! (Times may change)
Rocket League - 2v2 will be playing in Best of 7 matches instead of Best of 5 for the Playoffs. 20 teams are in this single elimination tournament. NEM's RL 2v2 team will be going up against Eisenhower High School: Ike RL Blue Duos for a Round 1 match on April 24th at 6:30 PM CDT.
NEM's Mario Kart 8 team gets a 1st Round BYE for being in the Top 8, 24 teams are in the Champ Bracket. NEM will be going against the winner of the Round 1 match of FLVS Fury: MK1 and FLVS Fury: MK9 for a Round 2 match on April 24th at 4:30 PM CDT.
NEM's VALORANT team will be playing in Best of 3 matches instead of Best of 1 for the Playoffs. 32 teams are in this single elimination Champ Bracket. NEM will be going against SSC Esports for a Round 1 match on April 24th at 5 PM CDT.
And finally, NEM's Overwatch 2 team will be in a 64 team single elimination tournament. NEM's OW2 team will be going against Bishop DuBourg HS for a Round 1 match on April 23rd at 6:30 PM CDT.
ESports will be very busy next week with so much going on. We hope that you all can join and watch us on YouTube and Twitch. On the Playoffs page under RL 2v2 and Mario Kart in Match History are scheduled streams from my POV ready to go on YouTube! Turn on notifications or set a reminder to watch them! Visit "Watch Us Play!" to watch our matches, visit "Leaderboards and Results" for all final results! And as always, have a wonderful weekend and Go Griffins!
4/5/2024 (12:00 PM Central) | Regular Season Round 5 - Results, Highlights, and Playoffs Update - "Full of Winners..."
By: Michael Lane
Welcome back! There is no bad at all this week, all of it is really good news!
Officially, BattlePants and WeebHashira have officially quit from competing in Smash Bros, they are still competing in Mario Kart. Rocket League's 3v3 team is also aborting and not competing in any match due to them missing too many games. This was decided on last week, and now NEM will be focusing on the 2v2 team.
IonizedElise and DC both played matches in Smash Bros, and of course both picked up wins!
IonizedElise went up against eCademy Eagle's #57 positioned CSonic27 and swept the series 3-0! Currently at the moment, IonizedElise is ranked #65 in the Central Division with a 2-0 win/loss, and are behind 3 rounds. Their Game Win Percentage is 85.714% and their Opponent Game Win Percentage is 46.425%.
DC_gotthatdawginem went up against Soldan E-Sport's #242 positioned maxbear09 and DC swept the series 3-0 as well! Currently, DC is ranked #81 in the Central division with a 2-1 win/loss, and are behind two rounds. Their Game Win Percentage is 66.667% and their Opponent Game Win Percentage is 51.351%.
Switching gears to the Mario Kart team, it was too easy for NEM. NEM went up against the dead last #74 positioned Hartford Pheonix: MX Gremlins and destroyed them with a 2-0 sweep. Match 1 ended 108-48 and Match 2 ended up 106-50 both in NEM's favor. NEM is currently on FIRE, positioned 6th in the Atlantic Division! NEM has a 4-1 win/loss and not behind any rounds. NEM has a 80% Game Win Percentage and a 26.667% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
NEM's VALORANT team were the next to queue, and they went up against the #38 positioned Newton Railers "nocturnal" team. NEM wins the game 13-2! 11 of the rounds won by elimination, the rest by defusing the spike. NEM VALORANT team is currently ranked 16th in the Central Division with a 2-0 win/loss, and behind 3 rounds! NEM has a 100% Game Win Percentage and a 44.444% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
On Wednesday, the NEM Rocket League 2v2 team queued last. After a rough last couple of weeks, they went up against the #47 positioned BP Dragons "DragonRocketeers" team and NEM swept the series 3-0! NEM is currently placed #21 in the league with a 2-2 win/loss. NEM has a 53.333% Game Win Percentage and a 42.5% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
The last team to go is the NEM Overwatch 2 team. On Thursday, NEM went against the #110 ranked Sachem East Arrow's main team and NEM dominated the series 3-0! NEM's OW2 team is currently on FIRE with a 4-0 win/loss and positioned #8 in the league, down one round. They have a 70.588% Game Win Percentage and a 48.077% Opponent Game Win Percentage. To add with the other USD259 teams, Wichita East's team is placed 4th and Southeast's team is placed 10th in the league. We have yet to play against them.
Multiple NEM team's are in very good spots to put themselves into the playoffs in the next couple of weeks. Some teams still need to make up matches in a couple of weeks during Makeup Week. Let's see how each team is doing while getting closer to the playoffs!
NEM's Mario Kart team is the best performing team by positioned compared to the other NEM teams. The MK8D team is currently placed 6th in the Atlantic Division and need to be in the Top 24 to qualify for the playoffs. The MK8D team is currently on a 3 game winning streak and is showing no signs of slowing down!
The NEM Overwatch 2 team is the 2nd best team out of all NEM teams and are currently placed 8th in their league, Top 64 needed to qualify for the playoffs. We will now consider the OW2 team as Playoff bound and qualified for Playoff contention! They are currently undefeated 4-0 and need to make up one more game! We'll see how next week will go.
The NEM VALORANT team is the 3rd best team in NEM eSports currently placed 16th in the Central Division, even though they have played 2 matches. They need to be in the Top 32 to qualify for the playoffs, and they are undefeated with two games under their belt.
The NEM Rocket League 2v2 team is also hanging on for dear life with a 2-2 win/loss and currently placed 21st in the league. As long as they stay in the Top 32, they are in the run for a playoff appearance. They are also down one game that they need to make up.
Including, one of the NEM Smash Players; IonizedElise is currently in a chance for the playoffs. They are currently 65th in the Central division, and must be in the Top 64 to earn a playoff spot. They are down three matches that they need to make up to be in good hands.
The final week of the Regular Season starts on April 8th! Please keep checking the new and updated Leaderboards & Match Results page for more insight on how each team and players do in each match they compete in. Please also visit the Playoffs page for a constantly updated list on all teams that are in contention for a Playoff run, or to see how each team compares with each other. Please also view the "Watch Us Play!" page to watch games from NEM player's perspectives! Including with that, come back each week to this page for an overview on each week!
Have a great Final Four and WrestleMania weekend, and Go Griffins!
3/29/2024 (12:10 PM Central) | Regular Season Round 4 - Results, Highlights, and Playoffs Update
By: Michael Lane
The 2nd half of the Regular Season is now underway, and Round 4 just got wrapped up. Let's look at the good, the bad, and the ugly!
All Smash players, and the Rocket League 3v3 team have not played a Round 4 match.
BattlePants is no longer in contention to make up enough games at this point of the season. IonizedElise is in danger of the same fate if they miss out on Round 5.
Due to issues with one of the players on the Rocket League 3v3 team not being able to show up for game day's, the 3v3 team is no longer in contention to get caught up on all matches to have a chance in the playoffs, falling in the same fate as BattlePants.
Kicking off the week on Wednesday, the Mario Kart team had an amazing match against the #69 positioned Westwood Regional Cardinals MK8D team. NEM won the series 2-0! NEM scored 102-45 in Game 1, and 101-55 in Game 2. NEM ends up #13 in the Atlantic Division with a 3-1 win/loss ratio, 75% Game Win Percentage, and a 25.807% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
The Rocket League 2v2 team had a rematch against the #4 positioned OCA HS Blue 2s team and had a repeat series from last week, plus going against the same players, losing 1-3. NEM is currently #34 in the league, with a 1-2 Win/Loss, 41.667% Game Win Percentage, and a 46.154% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
Shockingly enough, say hello to the VALORANT Team with their first ever match of the Spring Season! NEM went up against the #30 Positioned Mustang MMHS team, and it was a very interesting series. One of the NEM players we're not able to play, but were able to queue into the Generation Esports queue from Tennis practice, forcing NEM to play 4 on 5! NEM won the game 13-3, 9 of those rounds won by elimination, 3 won by bomb defusal, and one by time expiring. Kompchomp had the most eliminations on the NEM team with 30 eliminations. After their first game, NEM is placed #32 in the Central Division with a 100% Game Win Percentage, and a 50% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
The Overwatch 2 team is currently on fire after an another win against the #120 positioned AVHS e-Mber Team. NEM won the series 3-1! NEM is currently placed #14 in the league with a 3-0 Win/Loss, 64,286% Game Win Percentage and a 48.485% Opponent Game Win Percentage.
As the 2nd half of the Regular Season has begun, it doesn't hurt at all to look over what the Playoffs will look like for NEM. 4 NEM teams are currently or almost eligible for Playoff participation. Keeping in mind that some teams have missed out on games, as long as those teams have played almost 75% of their matches, they will be eligible to the playoffs.
The NEM teams that are currently eligible for playoff participation:
Mario Kart 8 Team
Currently placed #13 in the Atlantic Division.
Must be in the Top 24 to qualify for the Playoffs.
VALORANT Team
Currently placed #32 in the Central Division.
Must be in the Top 32 and play the Make-Up matches needed to qualify for the Playoffs.
Rocket League 2v2 Team
Currently placed #34 in the league.
Must be in the Top 32 to qualify for the Playoffs.
Overwatch 2 Team
Currently placed #14 in the league.
Must be in the Top 64 to qualify for the Playoffs.

And as always, good luck to our competitors, and go Griffins!
3/22/2024 (10:00 AM Central) | Regular Season Round 3 - Results and Highlights
By: Michael Lane
Round 3 week has wrapped up for NEM eSports yesterday. Let's take a look and see what happened for all of the teams!
NEM's Rocket League 3v3, VALORANT teams, and Smash Bro's IonizedElise and BattlePants have not played a match.
Week 3 is full of ups and downs for the NEM teams. More setbacks with players missing queue and game times are now going to make it even rough since we have hit the end of the 1st half of the season.
NEM's 2v2 Rocket League team and the #6 positioned OCA High School's Blue 2v2 team and NEM lost 1-3 against the higher skillful players. Welcome back to school from a very fast feeling Spring Break! We hope you all had a great break and a refreshing one, but it's time to get into eSports stuff!
NEM's VALORANT and Rocket League 3v3 teams, and "BattlePants" Smash Bros have yet to play a match in Round 1 and in Round 2 of the Regular Season. They will have to play the make-up matches in between April 15th-19th. NEM's Mario Kart team was the only team that played a Round 2 match.
Week 1 of the Regular Season was a very good start for the NEM teams! Majority of all of the NEM teams and players picked up a win during week 1, but with almost all of the teams absent in week 2 makes it a huge setback for NEM.
During week 1, NEM's Rocket League 2v2 team took a series win against the #42 positioned MRHS RL team. NEM won the series in 4 matches 3-1! A really good start for our #19 positioned team! NEM's RL 3v3 team did not play a single match as of yet.
NEM's Mario Kart Team has had an okay start to the season. During Week 1, NEM went against the #61 positioned FMHS Yellow Jackets and swept the series in 8 races and won the series 2-0. The Yellow Jackets have never played an official HSEL match for Mario Kart, making NEM being their first team ever played. They are currently struggling 0-2 in the Atlantic Division. During Week 2, NEM went against the #27 positioned Prowling Lions and lost the series in 8 races 0-2. NEM is still missing a main roster player due to NEM policies, so for both rounds played, a sub(s) had to fill in both weeks, one sub for Week 1 and two subs for Week 2. NEM is placed #38 in the Atlantic Division.
NEM's Overwatch 2 team has had a great start but only played in Round 1 against the #85 positioned Wichita North's main roster/team,making this the first Inter-District match for the Spring Season for NEM. NEM was able to pick up the series win 3-2 in Game 5. A very close result but an amazing start of the season for the Overwatch 2 team! The NEM OW2 team is placed #48 out of 129 teams.
NEM's Super Smash Bros players have had a rough and okay start to some players. NEM's IonizedElise went up against #149 positioned CHS Cougar's Smashbro64 during Round 1 and IonizedElise won the series 3-1 in 4 matches, making them the only team to win a series out of all players. They are placed #83 in the Central Division. WeebHashira played against Goddard High School's Zachattack101 and lost the series in a 0-3 sweep. Zachattack101 at the moment is one of the best players in the Central Division being placed #5 out of all players. WeebHashira is placed #191 in the Central Division. DC_gotthatdawginem went up against InTennCity's #113 positioned Superdubs1 and got swept 0-3 earning a loss. They are placed #208 in the Central Division.
Week 3 starts today (3/18/2024) and all NEM teams are looking for a comeback! Please keep checking in on this website for all of our results for the Spring Season. Keep in check with the Leaderboard and Match History pages to stay up to date on the results of all the matches played. Please visit the "Watch Us Play!" page to watch NEM compete in matches! 3/5/2024 (7:40 AM Central) | Pre-Season - Results and Highlights

Last week, NEM eSports wrapped up the Pre-Season for the 2024 Spring Season.
Across the board, there were a lot of hit and misses in all teams throughout the last two weeks.
The 2v2 team for Rocket League showed strong results from Jet and Mero as they dominated the competition in 2v2s with a 1-1 win/loss and placing #15 in the entire YWC 2v2 league. As the regular season starts up this week, it will be very interesting to see how they compete against the rest of the league
The 3v3 Rocket League team dominated the Central Division with a 2-0 win/loss, one of them being a BYE win and placing #2 in the Central Division for the HSEL Rocket League Spring Major Central Division standings. After a rough off-season from all three NEM players with not a ton of practice together, playing other games, and streaming 1v1 tournaments on RL, they all felt right at home with all being in the same match together going against our opponents.
The NEM VALORANT team didn't show up for Pre-Season, but the Overwatch 2 team is showing strong signs of domination across the leaderboard. Focusing on the less skillful players first, the Overwatch 2 team placed #56 with a 1-2 win/loss in the YWC pre-season standings. The Overwatch 2 team has a lot more time to grow and get better throughout the regular season, and it will be very interesting to see how they play coming to Thursday as the main roster will be in play.
Rough start for the Nintendo teams. The NEM Mario Kart team started the season off with a 0-2 win/loss placing #46 in the Atlantic Division. With one of the players on the main roster out due to NEM policies and with a filler players taking the open spot, the NEM players are struggling on getting the pace and speed back up against the competition. NEM's Super Smash Bros players had an okay start to the season. IonizedElise played the most matches out of the NEM players going with a 1-2 win/loss and placing #91 in the entire Central Division in the HSEL Super Smash Bros Ultimate Spring Major standings. WeebHashira is the 2nd NEM player to also get a win, with a 1-0 win/loss and placing #59 in the Central Division standings is showing a strong start before the start of the Regular Season. DC_gotthatdawginem and BattlePants all ended up with losses placing #96 and #102 in the standings.
Monday, 3/4/2024 kicks off the Regular Season for the 2024 Spring season! Good luck to all of our competitors, and go Griffins!
