VILS Teacher Onboarding Information

As promised, here is the information for the much anticipated VILS Teacher Onboarding. I’m sorry that this is coming to you with not much notice, but there was some information that was up in the air and we wanted to make sure that we got you the correct information that the district was sharing! There are 2 parts to this training:

1. A 90-minute Zoom meeting (that we are STRONGLY SUGGESTING that you complete on 5/25 @ 1:00). If you decide to do it during this time (or during other contract hours), you will not be paid extra for it.

2. A 90-minute asynchronous training that needs to be done any time (can be before or after your Zoom meeting). It just needs to be completed by June 8th. Again, if you do this during contract hours, you will not be paid extra for it.

• If you do either one of these trainings outside of contract hours, you will fill out THIS FORM to get paid. You will have to upload a copy of your certificate for proof of completion.  Teachers will be paid $21.50/hour and certified staff will be paid their hourly wage.

Classified Staff that received an iPad: You will be helping with computer deployment on 5/25 so you will not be required to do this training at this time. If you are interested in doing the training that the teachers are doing at another time, you are more than welcome to. (See below for instructions and more information on how to access the training.) Either way, please make sure you have set up your account for the VILS Academy.  You should have gotten an email that looks like the email below.  If you haven’t, please let me know.

Teachers that received an iPad: You are required to do the training that is in your VILS Academy.  You should have already set up your account for the VILS Academy. If you haven’t and need help getting another email to set it up, please let me know! Once you are in the VILS Academy:

1. You will click on the VILS Teacher Onboarding Icon

2. You will scroll down to 1. Material and click on it.

3. You will click on the 5/25 training @ 2:00 PM EST (this is 1:00 PM our time) or whatever time you plan on completing the training (just remember that it’s EST and it’s an hour ahead of us).

4. Confirm that is the training you want to do.

5. You will get a confirmation email from VILS saying that you have enrolled in the training.  This email is also where you will go to join the Zoom call on 5/25 (or whatever day/time you signed up for).

If you are not able to do the training on May 25th at 1:00 PM, please let me know what day and time you are going to complete it so I can keep track of that and compare it with the list VILS sends me. Thank you so much for taking time out of your already busy and crazy schedule.  I know this isn’t ideal, but it’s what the district is having us do so we will want to make sure that we follow their lead. VILS Teacher Onboarding Continued

A couple of questions came up from the email.

1. You will use this link to log in https://www.vils.academy/index.php You do NOT have to do this on your iPad…you can do it on your Surface Pro

2. In order to complete the asynchronous portion, you will scroll down after you click on the red VILS Teacher Onboarding Icon and click on #3 (eLearningQuest – Cohort 8 VILS Teacher Onboarding (iPad) Asynchronous Course.
