A: Yes, we are planning on bringing the 3-5 Graders into the D Wing Doors and the K-2 Students in the main doors. We will have drop off spots for both, and staff will be greeting kids and directing them to the temperature scanners.
A: The kids will get hot lunches delivered to them in the classrooms. Food service will provide a menu but we will be limited.
A: Currently we are putting together a schedule for the classes to be outside in their own spaces. Classes will not be mixed.
A: Emporia Schools has put together a plan to respond to a positive staff member or student. A secondary nurses station has been set up at Village to provide a comfortable safe space for students to rest while parents are contacted. The school nurse will notify all parties that are impacted including Kelly Bolin Assistant Superintendent of Emporia schools to make decisions moving forward.
A: The district has purchased a walk through scanner the students will walk through every morning and teachers have requested thermometers for their rooms.
A: Yes
A: The remote learners will follow a similar schedule to those onsite which includes specials classes. Information will be sent out as soon as possible. Families are still able to choose the remote option for learning so numbers are still fluctuating. Our goal is to have students assigned the week of August 24th.
A: Current Lyon County Health Department Guidelines state that masks should only be removed while eating. We are looking into opportunities for mask breaks because wearing masks can be tough for all of us.
A: Our staff is focused on the overall well being of our students. Our Capturing Kids Hearts Committee is planning activities to help students feel at home and connect with peers in a fun and safe way.
A: Those types of decisions will not be made at Village. We are currently working closely with Lyon County Health and Mary Herbert Education Staff to ensure that we stay open by following guidelines of wearing masks, staying 6 feet apart when possible, washing our hands every hour, and maintaining stable groups in our classrooms.
A: Our goal is to have students assigned the week of August 24th.
A: We will space out the students and have limited class sizes to around 15 students. We will supply hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and some study carrels. We plan to use the start of the year to teach students about hygiene and spacing so that they are safe.
A: Students will eat in their classroom with their class.
A: We are working on a newsletter with new policies and open house will be virtual on August 31st from 4:00-6:00. The teachers will invite families to a Google Meeting.
A: The students will meet with their teacher daily, from 7:55-3:11 (Onsite or Remote). The daily schedule will be very similar to a student onsite.
A: We will have a pickup time for school supplies for remote students once we separate the supplies so graciously supplied by First United Methodist Church.
A: The students will get PE, Music and Tech everyday through Google Meet. Art class will be taught by the classroom teacher and in conjunction with Capturing Kids Hearts activities.
A: When students and staff arrive at school they will use a designated entrance. As of August 20th, our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders will come into the main entrance. We are currently planning on bringing the 3-5 Graders into the D Wing Doors. Those entering the building will need to practice social distancing by using the visuals marked on the concrete to maintain 6 feet from families. Before exiting their vehicle and entering the main area of the building they will need to place their mask on to have their temperature taken. Students will report to their classrooms and then be asked a series of pre-screening health questions. Parent access to the building will be limited until it is safe for us to allow more than students and staff throughout the building. Upon entering the building students will need to report directly to their classroom.
A: Drop off will look the same except we are asking that if you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader you pull forward to the west and enter the building in the D Wing door. There will be people to help direct you.
A: We currently have two adults assigned to each classroom, the second adult would take over teaching. We will still remote (Google Meet) some classes such as PE and other additional support to students.
A: We will take each situation case by case to ensure that everyone remains safe.
A: The plan currently is to work closely with Lyon County Health Agency and coordinate with staff at Mary Herbert to make a determination.
A: Many of our students will be remote so the amount of students leaving will be less than in past years but we have put a plan to stagger students out of the building. Please ask your classroom teacher the plan for your child.
A: We will still support all students with Capturing Kids Hearts activities and the Second Step Lessons and curriculum. We also plan to support all students, remote or onsite.
A: 7:30, the student will report to their classroom and wait for the day to start at 7:55. They will be supervised by their classroom teacher or support staff.
A: They will be learning all day but not necessarily "online" all day. Students will be given instruction and then allowed time to complete tasks.
A: We are currently working on class lists that could possibly allow same age family members such as brothers, sisters, and cousins to be in the same class to help with families.
A: Yes and no, the students will be given instruction and tasks. The students will be instructed on assignments but then time for independent work in which the teacher will act as a facilitator/mentor.
A: We are planning a virtual Kindergarten Orientation.
A: Due to the need to keep stable groups within our school we will have back to school photo opportunities available around the outside of the building for families to take traditional back to school pictures. We will not be allowing any visitors in Village Elementary to help keep all of our students safe. Parents will need to plan to wish their child well at the front entry of the building. We completely recognize that this is not ideal, however, it is the world we are living in currently. Staff will be available outside to greet and welcome children as they arrive.
A: Your classroom teacher will let you know about dismissal but I would try to plan with your student about where you are parking everyday and try to be consistent with that plan.
A: At this time the plan for remote students will not have that opportunity but they will meet daily with other students, staff, and peers in Google Meets.
A: We will issue those to Kindergarten students along with passwords on the first day of school. We are currently planning on getting school supplies and chrome books to students who are remote learners. We will share those plans on Social Media and through parent emails.
A: You will still need to submit copies to our office at Village.
A: Lunch orders for remote learning will be done at the start of the day just like any other student and we will have a designated pick up time around the lunch hour for pick up.
A: We don't currently have a plan, but we understand that our kids need student to student interaction and our Capturing Kids Hearts Committee is working on being social from a distance.
A: Village Facebook, Twitter, and District Informational meetings or emails. You many also just call us at 341-2282.
A: We are going to put together class lists this week and will be posted as soon as possible. We are planning virtual tours and virtual open houses. We will share that information soon.
A: All supplies needed will be provided by First United Methodist Church and we are planning on having a pick up planned for students.
A: The first day of class on September 2nd but we are planning on a remote Open House on August 31st from 4:00-6:00 PM.
A: We will go over all those procedures during our remote Open House. Currently we are planning on sending students a Google Meeting link in their student emails by mid-next week.
