1. Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
2. Treat other with kindness and respect.
3. Take care of ourselves, each other, and our surroundings.
4. Ask questions when you don't understand.
I believe in fair consequences. However, this does not always mean the same or equal consequences. Each student has a different background, personality, and experiences, so consequences may not be the same for each student in similar situations. Consequences can include verbal warnings, penalizations towards participation grades, loss of classroom privileges, private meetings with the teacher, phone calls to parents, extraction from the class, visiting with the principal, and personalized discipline programs. When students do not follow the classroom procedures, such as talking when the teacher is talking, not being prepared, not arriving on time, students will often receive a direct reminder of the procedure and a loss of daily engagement points. As the offenses continue, the consequences will also increase. More serious offenses, like bullying and damage to property, will result in loss of participation points, a private meeting with the teacher, a phone call to parents, and/or visiting with the principal/counselor.
Students are expected to turn in work by the posted deadline. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of the deadlines with or without reminders. Assignments submitted late will be deducted 10% of the grade per day it was late. Assignments will not be accepted after 1 week past the due date.
Cell phones will not allowed to be seen or heard inside of the classroom whether they are in use or not. Offenses will result in the device being sent directly to the office. Smart watches will also follow this same policy. Use of any technological device should solely be for educational purposes as instructed by the teacher. Failure to comply may result in the loss of technology privileges during class and alternative work will be assigned.
Using other sources to complete your work (copying from a friend, using an online translator, artificial intelligence, etc) is considered academic dishonesty and will result in earning a 0 for the assignment. If you are having a hard time understanding something, please speak with the teacher. Extra help and resources will be provided. It is important for students to learn to advocate for themselves when they do not understand something in class.
Students are expected to treat each other, staff, and visitors with respect and kindness. Consequences for acts of bullying will follow the general consequence policy outlined above. However, in addition to those consequences, all acts of bullying will result in communication with guardians, regardless of the severity. Together (the student, guardians, and teacher) will address the incident with a plan of action. All parties are expected to work on this plan of action.
