SCCC Industrial Technology Training

Juniors and Seniors may take a bus to the Seward County Industrial Tech Campus to attend programs for half the day while attending Hugoton High School required courses the other half the day. Students must be in good standing with the high school regarding attendance, grades and behavior to participate. This opportunity may or may not lead to an industry certification or Associates Arts degree but will give the student an advanced start after high school graduation. In addition to college credit being earned the student will concurrently earn high school credit.

Hugoton USD 210 is not responsible for any bookstore charges or tuition. It is imperative that students and their parents understand any outstanding bills from SCCC will prevent a student from enrolling in future courses. Furthermore, SCCC will not release grades or transcripts to the student or other institutions if the bill is not paid

Most courses are paid for by Kansas tax payers in a program called Excel CTE which is now law. It provides any high school students free tuition to most industrial technical courses while the student is in high school. Upon graduation from Hugoton High School, students who enroll in courses to complete a certification or degree will pay tuition.

Students who show good attendance, grades, behaviors and outstanding bills are paid will be allowed to enroll each semester until high school graduation.

Transportation to and from Seward County Community College will be the responsibility of Hugoton USD 210. Students are not allowed to drive themselves to and from SCCC. There are no exceptions to this rule for reasons of school liability.

First time enrollment into an Industrial Technical Education program will occur during an individual meeting with a Hugoton USD 210 representative, the student, their parent(s) and SCCC representative.
