Animal Science

A continuation into the various disciplines of animal science. A great course for learning the general biology of animals and the skills needed to correctly manage them. Units covered in this course include; leadership, anatomy & physiology, traditional domestic livestock mgt. (beef, sheep, swine, horse, dairy, etc.), record keeping, non-traditional livestock mgt. (bison, llama, aquaculture, apiculture, etc.), genetics, nutrition, animal behavior and facility design.

Agricultural Mechanics

This course has been designed with the purpose of introducing students to the basic principles of agricultural mechanics. It will provide students with instruction in technical and basic concepts as well as hands on practical application and practice. Units you will receive instruction in include: career exploration, safety & shop management, shielded metal arc welding (Arc), oxyacetylene heating, cutting, brazing & welding, plasma arc cutting, hand woodworking & metalworking, power tool use, gas metal arc welding (MIG), project planning, painting, electricity, plumbing, concrete & masonry, agricultural structures, supervised agricultural experience projects and record keeping.


Introduction To Agriculture

Agriculture helps to meet the basic needs of human and their civilization by providing food, clothing, shelters, medicine and recreation. Hence, agriculture is the most important enterprise in the world. It is a productive unit where the free gifts of nature namely land, light, air, temperature and rain water etc., are integrated into single primary unit indispensable for human beings. Secondary productive units namely animals including livestock, birds and insects, feed on these primary units and provide concentrated products such as meat, milk, wool, eggs, honey, silk and lac. Throughout the units you will learn about animal health, basic human needs, basic livestock needs and uses, and Agricultural Communication.


Plant and Soil Science

Soil science is the study of soil as a natural resource on the surface of the Earth including soil formation, classification and mapping; physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils; and these properties in relation to the use and management of soils. Incorporating Plant Science with the knowledge of soil may jump start your knowledge of plant functions and processes.
