QuarkNet is a ~20-year old nonprofit organization funded by NSF and DOE to to help high school science teachers in their curriculum and professional developments through a network of fellow high school teachers and researchers in higher education.
The network includes 51 centers nationwide. The USD center is the 52nd one that serves high schools in four states around Vermillion. A center is responsible for hosting annual workshops for teachers and masterclasses for high school students.
We collaborate with the School of Education, USD to provide graduate credits for participating teachers to help boost their income.
