A new start-up initiative founded by the Society of Physics Students at SC, who strive to bring the physical sciences to light for the broader public community.
The main aim of science is to better understand the universe we live in and utilize these discoveries to innovate and better the lives of others. Science communication is a vital piece of this puzzle, something that has been communicated through television, articles, movies, books, and even comics. Society of Physics Students at SC strives to spotlight the physical sciences in our community through similar techniques. Our mission is not only to convey the cutting-edge research happening at USC, but also how this research connects to our present and future. We hope to further explore the science that improves our world and uncover these developments in an accessible fashion. We want to share our perspectives and stories, all centered around science and the opportunities that it has given us.
That’s why SPS created The Lab Report, a journalistic endeavor aimed at translating complex research into engaging, accessible content for a broader audience. This could be expressed through articles, artwork, written reflections, and video blogs.
We aim to make science communication more digestible without watering down the impact, an especially important endeavor in a time where fact is hard to separate from fiction. Now more than ever, science in its purest, most objective form deserves to be shared widely and understood deeply. Our foundation rests on three core values: curiosity, creativity, and the pursuit of truth. We are driven by a lasting network of engaged minds that will continue to explore and share the way science can change the world.
