We used aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and chemical engineering.
Aerospace Engineering is focused on aeronatics with the development of spacecraft and aircrafts. It covers the designing process to the testing process of creating air/space crafts.
Mechanical Engineering is a general field of study focused on everything that has motion. It involves creating new designs of anything that moves from cars to wind mills. Mechanical engineering also includes the maintainace of the mechanical device.
Industrial Engineering is focused on engineering with manufacturing and the systems required to create a process of creation. For example, increasing efficency in factory automation.
Chemical Engineering is focused on interactions of chemicals for creating materials and components. Chemical engineering is used in manufacturing to produce valueable materials and products, only attainable through chemical processes.
We were tasked with designing a three stage rocket to launch a CO2 capture device into the atmosphere.
We started by working on the design of the three-stage rocket that was going to deliver our CO2 capture device. In Tinkercad, we designed the overall shape of the rocket and the diffrent components of the rocket.
Then we moved our design to RockSim. Where we were actually able to see the forces on the rocket and simulate the flight of the rocket.
The final step was to optimize and improve apon our rocket by changing diffrent perameters. By improving the rockets components, we are able to make it fly further up.
We first created our desgin in Tinkercad to model the rocket.
Next, we moved our design into RockSim and added the diffrent components.
Finally, we improved apon our existing design to make the rocket better.
Once delivered into the atmosphere, the fan will drive air in the cylinder with the plant that will capture CO2 as it passes by. This system not only uses up CO2 but results in the creation of Oxygen
On our second version we decided that the use of a CO2 scrubber would be much better than placing broccoli in the capture device.
The CO2 scrubbers were found to require active power, for this we made it so that the propeller at the end would drive a servo causing power to be produced
