Dr. Takahashi grew up in Sakura, Chiba, Japan where the area were surrounded by many rice fields, creeks and a lake. In his childhood, he enjoyed playing soccer, cycling, and fishing. When he was in a high school, he was fascinated with Physics and Math with which the nature can described by a simple expression, and decided to study science in a college and beyond. He gradauted from Aoyama-Gakuin University with B.S. and M.S. in Physics with research of condensed matter physics theory with Prof. Duk Joo Kim. After the graduate school, Dr. Takahashi worked for Hitachi in Tokyo to research high-speed and high-bandwidth interface circuits for a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) bus with Dr. Hideki Osaka.
Then, Dr. Takahashi moved to the United State to earn his Ph.D. He attened University of Florida for four years to obtain his in Physics in 2005 with Prof. Steve Hill. He then moved to University of California Santa Barbara where he investigated electron spin decoherence in solid-state systems including nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond and single-molecule magnets (SMMs) using high frequency pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. He also developed 240 GHz pulsed EPR spectrometer powered by the UCSB free-electron lasers (FELs) with Prof. Mark Sherwin, Physics-UCSB.
