The USC Center for AI in Society is hosting the fourth annual ShowCAIS symposium–a daylong, in-person event on Friday, March 27th on the USC campus. This event will highlight the work of students and faculty using AI for social good, and will include lunch and refreshments. We invite USC faculty, postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students, staff, and USC CAIS alumni to submit an abstract on AI for social impact.
We are most excited about projects that involve both AI (e.g., computer science, operations research, data science) and social/environmental disciplines (e.g., social work, public health, public policy, climate). We also welcome abstracts that are primarily set in one discipline with implications for the other. For example, technical abstracts should have social good applications; social/environmental papers should discuss opportunities to apply AI to their studies, if they don’t already include AI. The presentation can focus on new work, or work that was recently presented or submitted to a conference. This is a non-archival symposium.
We invite abstracts to be submitted to one of three main themes: 1) sustainability and the environment, 2) health and wellbeing, and 3) homelessness. If your work fits the greater AI for social impact theme, but is outside of one of these three areas, please feel free to submit. You can view the past versions of our symposium in 2025, 2024, and 2023 for examples and more information.
Please submit a 500-word max abstract for a poster or oral talk on your work here. Please note we will NOT review any abstract over 500 words. The submission form will also ask you to provide three keywords, indicate whether you prefer a poster or oral presentation, and other details about your work.
Abstracts must be submitted by Friday, January 30th, 5 p.m. PT for consideration.
Decision notices will be sent out on Friday, February 20th.
Please feel free to reach out to the ShowCAIS organizing committee with any questions at usccais@usc.edu.
