AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Welcome to the Saito laboratory at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases. We are broadly interested in understanding the molecular immuno-pathology and cell biology of the liver diseases. Our laboratory leverages insights from cell biology of the liver, nutritionology, pharmacology, signaling, bio-engineering, and genomics to develop new, and effective therapeutic strategies for patients suffering from end-stage liver diseases.
The fundamental mission of physician-scientists is to identify unmet clinical needs. This leads to our scientific curiosity and becomes a foundation of our passion and dedication to further the understanding of the mechanism underlying the pathophysiology of the disease. Our laboratory is committed to uncovering unrecognized mechanisms of diseases with an ultimate goal to exploit the knowledge and insights obtained through the wet laboratory activity for the establishment of highly effective preventative or therapeutic strategies.
