About Me

Hi! I'm Haley (she/her/hers). I am a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Southern California! I am currently advised by Louis Goldstein and Elsi Kaiser. Broadly speaking, my research interests are phonetics and psycholinguistics.

I am primarily interested in investigating the relationship between speech production and perception, as well as examining variation in gestural segmentations of speech production. Additionally, I am interested in examining different representative mechanisms of language perception to analyze how the perceptions and behaviors of people change when altering the linguistic structure of input.

I am from Northern Mississippi, but I have lived in LA since 2017. I received a B.A. in Linguistics, Mathematics, and Russian from USC. Outside of academia, I enjoy doing theatre and playing board games. I am also a huge cartoon enthusiast and quite possibly the world’s biggest Scooby-Doo fanatic.
