With 27 years of bartending experience and 24 of those spent at a well known Old Town dive, I’ve seen it all. In recent years, I ventured more into craft cocktails, but these days, I focus on event bartending to prioritize a healthier work-life balance. Having worked at a dive bar for so long, I want to show non cocktail bar bartenders that we all do the same thing and have a lot we can learn from each other.
While I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and techniques, most of which I have learned at USBG events, I firmly believe bartending is more building relationships and creating memorable experiences for my guests. I love helping other bartenders embrace this career and showing them the incredible and rewarding lifestyle it can provide.
Outside of the bar, I spend my time with my adorable, but unruly dog Socks and my adorable wife Ursula who is a mental health therapist at an addiction treatment center.
Clint Spotleson- “Spotty” to those that know him, is a 25+ year industry veteran. Born in Scottsdale, AZ, he was one of the early members of the local cocktail scene, being behind such early bars as Jade Bar and Mabel’s on Main. Spotty was quick to get involved in the national culture as well, being involved with not just the USBG council, but Lush Life events as well. In early 2017 he moved to Las Vegas to join the bar team at the iconic Herbs & Rye, where he stayed until returning to Phoenix at the end of 2021. After running a few hotel programs, he left bartending in 2023, ultimately ending up with his dream role as the Global Advocacy Manager for Sagamore Rye.
Spotty is based in Scottsdale, but currently spends most of his time as a resident of Marriott’s Bonvoy program. He loves the outdoors when he has the time and is rekindling his love of art & photography.
Katie Haley will be serving her third year on the USBG Phx Chapter council. She is excited for the new opportunity to serve as President. Katie has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years. She currently works for Backbar Hospitality Management as the Director of HR & Marketing.
