Este año el equipo de investigación viaja a la AGU en San Francisco para coordinar la sesión: T53D - Green Geophysical and Structural Geology Tools in Mineral Systems Research: Improving Sustainable Exploration Poster.

IMPLEMENTACION DE TECNOLOGIA LIMPIAS PARA LA EXPLORACION Y MINERIA SOSTENIBLE DE DEPOSITOS DE W-SN-LI EN EL MACIZO IBERICO

Nuevo proyecto multidisciplinar centrado en la investigación de tecnologías y metodologías sostenibles dentro del campo de la exploración de depósitos de W-Sn-Li en el Macizo Ibérico. En coordinación con el IGEO-CSIC se abordarán desde diferentes perspectivas la caracterización de depósitos minerales, sus huellas geofísicas y la correlación con las propiedades geoquímicas del sistema.

Arquitectura orogénica varisca: recursos estratégicos y proyección ambiental sostenible

El nuevo proyecto del plan nacional echa a andar.  En coordinación con la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, el proyecto abordará, por un lado, la impronta estructural y geofísica en depósitos de minerales estratégicos tardivariscos (Subproyecto USAL), y por otro, el papel de la petrogénesis en la exploración y valoración medioambiental de estos yacimientos (subproyecto UCM).  Un enfoque multidisciplinar y novedoso para ambos grupos con el fin abordar un reto muy actual  de nuestra sociedad: la exploración/explotación sostenible de recursos estratégicos.

The orogenic processes leading to the construction of major mountain chains are of great importance for the resulting features of the crust. Accurate knowledge of these traits is significant for the human life in different ways as it will help improve the green exploitation of natural resources, minimize the damage of natural hazards, back the sustainability of urban development (including the water cycle management), and support the building of communication links. 

The Variscan Belt, including the related American orogens, is one of the best known orogenic chains in the world, mainly due to its location in countries with a long research history. However, fresh data are continuously becoming available and the geotectonic models are unceasingly being refined. In the westernmost segment of the Variscan Belt in Europe (the Iberian Massif), new research outcomes are resulting in interesting proposals for the structure of this part of the chain and allowing the proposal of improved genetic models for the complete Variscan orogen.
