BS in Environmental Sciences, UNED
PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Cantabria, Spain
Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses USACH
Ricardo Abejón is Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses at the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) since 2021, being member of the Laboratory of Membrane Separation Processes (LabProSeM).
He is PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering by the University of Cantabria and BS in Environmental Sciences by the National Distance Education University (both in Spain) since 2013. He started his career as researcher just as undergraduate student in the University of Cantabria in 2007 until 2013, when he completed postdoctoral grants in the European Institute of Membranes (France) and Hiroshima University (Japan), before returning to the University of Cantabria as main researcher of his own project. He had experience as visiting researcher in Solvay R&D Center (Belgium) and the University of the Republic (Uruguay) and moved definitively to Chile in 2021.
His teaching activities are focused on the Chemical Engineering programs at USACH related to Mass and Energy Balances and Separation Processes. He develops research in the field of separation process, mainly those ones based on membranes, as well as on the applications of process engineering tools (design, modeling, simulation, optimization) to the development of more sustainable processes, products and services.
Author of above 50 articles in scientific journals (h-index: 16, with nearly 700 citations), a similar amount of presentations in congresses and one book chapter. Regarding the formation of human capital, he has supervised 2 master's projects fellowships and has tutored 7 undergraduate projects.
