7th Grade Science is designed to expose students to many facets of the natural world through science and engineering practices. Students will utilize the science and engineering practices to:
identify and solve problems,
apply critical thinking skills to everyday situations,
work cooperatively to achieve common goals,
make connections between science concepts and current events,
connect science and technology using computers and laboratory equipment,
make scientific connections through the writing process,
see how different sciences are dependent on each other.
Communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking are important skills in science as they are in life, so projects may include designing and building models, oral and/or written reports, and collaboration with peers.
Students also work from the Simple Solutions workbook. This program is designed to give students the resources they need to be successful. This program has been research-based identifying strategies that have been strengthening student mastery, increasing academic achievement, building confidence, and raising standardized test scores.
The curriculum for this course is based the Illinois State Standards as well as the Next Generation Science Standards.

8th Grade Science incorporates the Next Generation Science Standards that are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills for proficiency in science at the eighth-grade level. The 8th grade curriculum is a continuum of the 7th grade science and engineering practices.
