Teacher Salaries vs. Cost of living aims to explore how teacher salaries vary by state and how these earnings compare to local living expenses. This project will help in providing an understanding of where salaries may lead to financial challenges for teachers.
The data set used in this analysis is "Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics" from May 2023 provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data includes information on teacher salaries in the 50 U.S. states as well as The District of Columbia, Guam, and Virgin Islands. Headers include mean annual wage, estimated total employment, percent relative standard error (RSE) for employment and wage percentiles (10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th). The RSE helps assess the reliability of employment estimates and wage percentiles give a better view of income distribution among teachers. This data set allows for a detailed analysis of salary variations and employment trends that will help to identify financial challenges for teachers across the United States.
