Ken Hinga, M.S. ’74, Ph.D. ’84, and his wife Noelle Lewis, M.S. ’85, returned to GSO in November to meet with URI ocean engineering student Kylie Pasternak, her major professor Lora Van Uffelen and Ed Baker, manager of the Marine Science Research Facility. They discussed placing a hydrophone off the GSO pier to record underwater sounds and compare them to URI biologist Marie Fish’s recordings off the pier in the 1960s. When Ken was GSO assistant dean he was instrumental in saving Marie Fish’s recordings and transferring them to compact discs.
