My name is Ian James Lin. I was born in the summer of 2009 and raised in the beautiful Ocean State of Rhode Island. I am a pianist, a composer, and a violinist. And I hope to be a great conductor one day.
At 3.5, I started studying piano and made music on the piano for fun. Around the same time (age 6) I started to study violin, I got more serious about composing and began private composition lessons. I currently study piano under Professor Meng-Chieh Liu, piano faculty of both Curtis and NEC, and Ms. Natalia Zhu, director of Kingston Chamber Music Festival. I have performed at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall and BSO Concert Hall. I became the youngest member of the RI Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra (RIPYO) at age 10. I was the concertmaster at RIPYO for the 22-23. And I recently became a member of the Philadelphia Youth Symphony. I love sharing my love of music with others. I have been giving solo concerts at local nursing homes every year around the Holiday seasons and in springtime since I was 6. I had been a member of the Rhode Island Children's Chorus for a number of years before entering high school this year. My favorite composer is J. S. Bach! Besides music, Ian enjoys tennis, science, chess, and speed-cubing. My best record of solving a 3*3 cube is 7 seconds.
