More about this project:
The 'Samaki Salama' international research project aims to help secure small-scale subsistence fisheries and provide nutrition education for families in coastal Kenya. As a student research assistant working with this project, Rachel and their teammates Francis, Catherine, and Ruth, saw a need to further this work through tangible resources targeting the whole family. And what better way than a children's book?
Francis and Catherine authored one story, Samaki ni Zawadi, and Rachel wrote and illustrated another, Haki ya Chakula kwa Familia!, compiling the stories with recipes, photos, illustrations, and resources from the project. The hope is that these books will continue to provide nutrition education and this website will allow for further collaboration on this important project.
Taaifa zaidi kuhusu mradi huu:
Mradi wa utafiti kimatifia 'Samaki Salama' unalenga kusaidia usalama wa wavuvi wadogo wadogo na kutoa elimu ya lishe kwa familia katika pwani ya Kenya. Kama mwanafunzi na msaidizi wa utafiti anayefanya kazi na mradi huu, Rachel na wenzake Francis, Catherine, na Ruth, waliona haja ya kuendeleza kazi hii kupitia nyenzo zinazoonekana kulenga familia nzima. Na ni njia gani bora kuliko kitabu cha watoto?
Francis na Catherine waliandika hadithi moja, Samaki ni Zawadi, na Rachel aliandika na kutoa picha nyingine, Haki ya Chakula kwa Familia!, akikusanya hadithi hizo pamoja na mapishi, picha, vielelezo, na nyenzo za mradi. Matumaini ni kwamba vitabu hivi vitaendelea kutoa elimu ya lishe na tovuti hii itaruhusu ushirikiano zaidi katika mradi huu muhimu.
