Who Can I Talk To?
No matter what you're going through, you are not alone. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with friendships, experiencing anxiety, or just need someone to listen, there are people who care and want to help. Talking about a problem can make it easier to deal with and help you find the right support.
๐งโ๐ซ Support Available in School
If something is bothering you, school is a safe place where you can reach out for support. You can talk to:
๐ฉโ๐ซ Your Form Tutor
Your form tutor sees you most days, knows you well and is a good first point of contact. If you're struggling with friendships, schoolwork, or just need some advice, they are there to listen and guide you in the right direction.
๐ Your Head of Year
If you have a bigger concern; whether it's about your wellbeing, friendships, home life or anything affecting your happiness, your Head of Year is there to help. They can offer support, give advice and connect you with the right people if you need more help.
๐ฌ School Counsellors, Youth Worker and Mentoring Support
If you need someone to talk to confidentially about personal worries, our school offers:
Counselling โ A private space to talk to a professional who can help you work through feelings of stress, anxiety or personal issues.
Mentoring and One-to-One Check-ins โ A supportive chat with a member of staff to help you set goals and work through any challenges youโre facing.
Youth Worker - Leila is in school on Wednesdays at lunch in the Pastoral Hub/Chaplaincy Office. She can offer you confidential advice and support.
If you would like to access any of these, speak to your Head of Year or a trusted teacher. It is important that you have at least one adult in school you could go to for help, and that could be any of the staff or visitors from the list above.
๐ Safeguarding and Reporting Concerns
If you are worried about your own safety or someone elseโs, you should speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - Mr Jones in school as soon as possible. If you prefer to report something anonymously, you can use SpeakUp, which is available through the Thrive Hub.
๐ Support Outside of School
Sometimes, you might prefer to talk to someone outside of school, especially if you want to speak anonymously. There are lots of organisations that can help:
๐ฒ Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
Kooth (now known as Soluna) โ Free, anonymous online mental health support and counselling for young people.
MyMind โ NHS mental health support for young people in Cheshire & Wirral.
YoungMinds โ Information, advice, and support for mental health challenges.
Branch Wirral - use a simple questionnaire to help find you the exact support you need.
๐จ Urgent and Crisis Support
Childline โ Call 0800 1111 โ Confidential support 24/7 for any problem, big or small.
Samaritans โ Call 116 123 โ A listening service available at any time.
Papyrus โ Call 0800 068 4141 โ Support for young people struggling with suicidal thoughts.
If you or someone else is in danger, call 999 or go to A&E.
๐ก Why Talking Helps
Itโs easy to feel like you have to deal with things alone, but opening up to someone can make all the difference. Even if they donโt have all the answers, just sharing your worries can help you feel supported and less alone.
If youโre unsure who to talk to, start with someone you trust e.g. a teacher, a friend, a family member or a helpline. You deserve support, and there are people ready to listen. ๐
