Sophie Rickman

Future School:  Sophie will attend the University of Arizona hoping to major in communications or journalism.  

School Activities or Civic Engagement:  Sophie lettered in Drama and is in the Distributive Clubs of America (DECA). She is also an AP student. Sophie has been volunteering at The Lakewood Elks Lodge since she was 12 years old, volunteered at the Tacoma Rescue Mission, and through her church, Praise Covenant.  She has cleaned community parks, helped with vacation bible school, and given many toys for tots. 

Outside of school, Sophie is a bookworm and goes to the gym in her free time. She also spends time with friends and family. Sophie’s favorite free time activity is to see the world. Some places she has traveled include Hawaii, Dubai, Israel, Mexico, and Canada.  She plans to travel to Japan after graduation. 

Sophia Augino

Future School:  Sophia plans to attend college and study a career path in leadership, hopefully in the UK. 

School Activities or Civic Engagement: Sophia is Curtis Varsity Cheer Captain, Senior class Vice President, a National Honors Society Member, recipient of President’s Education Awards Program in Outstanding Academic Excellence, committed volunteer at Tacoma and Pierce County Humane Society and specializes in dog enrichment, and an alumni of the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington DC. Since her freshman year, she has had over 550 volunteer hours. 

Outside of school, Sophia can be found curled up with a book and a cup of coffee, watching Gilmore girls with her mom, playing tons of video games with her dad, or building Star Wars legos. She has a dog named Maggie, who loves to destroy anything in her path. 

Lillian Ecklund

Future School:  Lillian plans to attend a four-year University and pursue a degree in neuroscience or aerospace engineering. 

School Activities or Civic Engagement:  Lillian is a volunteer tutor, member of the Curtis Girls and Women in Sports Group and a National Honor Society Member. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years and is working towards earning her Girl Scout Gold Award. Lillian is active in sports at Curtis including the Girls Swim and Dive team and is the team Captain and two time state champion on the Girls Water Polo team. She is also the head manager for the boys water polo team.  Lillian has a passion for music and has played the violin for 9 years. Currently she plays the violin in the Curtis High School Philharmonic Orchestra as well as in the Pit Orchestra for the Musical. Lillian has completed 7 AP Courses at Curtis and was awarded the AP Scholar with Distinction Award for excellence.  She is currently enrolled in 5 AP courses as a senior.  

Outside of school, Lillian carries her love for athletics playing in tournaments for both water polo and beach volleyball.   Last summer, she served as the assistant coach for a series of youth water polo goalie camps run by a former Olympian. Lillian is also an avid reader and has completed the Tacoma Public Library Extreme Reader Challenge with her mom. She also enjoys spending time with her family and three dogs Duckie, Goose and Clifford.
