The Applied Mathematics Research Laboratory (AppMaR) is part of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo (UPRA). It is currently in the charge of professor José F. Candelaria-Soberal Ph.D., who founded it in 2016.
he AppMar Laboratory provides a think-tank-like environment to a team of talented undergraduate students. Each team undertakes a research project of mathematical nature at an advanced undergraduate level led by a faculty mentor from the Department of Mathematics with particular interest in the topic.
Students receive course credit for their participation in an AppMaR project.
To expose UPRA's students to advanced undergraduate level research experiences in applied mathematics.
To present research projects that are both interesting and challenging for undergraduate student.
Have students work in a collaborative environment where the faculty mentor serves as a guide through the research process.
