Dear Upland Junior High Parents and Community:
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
As unusual as these times are, we’re thrilled to resume the important work of educating our students. Our teachers and staff have been working diligently to ensure that this year gets off to a great start and that the updated distance-learning procedures we’ve put in place provide your children with a challenging and engaging academic experience.
I want to thank those of you who have expressed your thoughts regarding distance learning and how best to proceed with a return to school. Like you, we look forward to the day when can resume normal school operations and interact in person with all of our students. We miss them so much!
Our District leadership is closely monitoring developments with regard to COVID-19 and its impact on schools. As you are probably aware, public schools in Upland, San Bernardino County and the majority of California are prohibited from reopening in person until their county is off the state’s pandemic watch list for 14 days. As that situation evolves, we will be staying in close contact with our parents and students, our teachers and staff, and the community at large.
In the meantime, I want to assure you that our team at Upland Junior High is committed to ensuring that your children receive rigorous instruction and that no student’s academic progress is interrupted during these unprecedented times.
All Upland public schools have adopted and embraced a process known as synchronous learning, in which students have daily live interaction with their teachers in a virtual classroom setting and engage in whole-group, small-group and independent assignments and projects. Progress is closely monitored and feedback is provided on a regular basis. We also will be providing virtual school-wide events, so that students can feel as connected as possible to the school, their teachers and their fellow students.
For any questions on how all of this impacts your child, please contact our office at

As always, thank you for your support. We look forward to a great year! Go Be Amazing!
