What to practice?

Great question! Here are some ideas for a practice session... (updated 10/19/22)

Start with a 10 minute practice session (5 times a week). This is the minimum amount of practice. You are required to practice your instrument as part of your homework. I explained this before you signed up for band 😁.


5th grade band (or 6th grade "newbies"):

1 minute of Breathing Gym

1 minute of Embouchure (use a mirror)

3 minutes of Open Tones

5 minutes of Your Choice (Trying new notes, Beginning Band BC or other videos)


6th grade band:

1 minute of Breathing Gym

2 minutes of Warm-up (open tones, scales, 3-5 note songs, etc)

7 minutes of Music (stuff we are working on in class or that you find interesting)
