AP Research is the second course in the AP Capstone experience. You get to deeply explore an area that you are passionate about, an academic topic, problem, issue, or an idea that you are interested in.
Don't be intimidated by the name!
ANYTHING! Anything that you may be interested in is worthy of study. Your curiosity is the limit.
BUT this topic should be something that you actually like, love or are ACTUALLY interested in
These are absolutely disciplines that are worthy of study.
Creating, performing, designing, and building something that you are passionate about IS ACADEMIC--is a discipline.
If you have been doing these things you have already been doing research! This class lets you take it a step further: to organize and promote it to the greater community in your discipline.
For example, if you have been preparing a character study, costume or stage design for Theatre or the Thespian Festival you have already been doing research! In fact much of that research can be used for your AP Research project.
You will design, plan, and run an ORIGINAL year-long study on your area of passion or interest. You will learn how to
Find different and professional information about your topic
Discover what is currently talked about in the world about your area
Work with experts that are just as passionate about your area of interest
Create a project that includes a publishable quality paper
Learn how to give a professional quality presentation.
Yes. The prerequisite for the class is AP SEMINAR. You will need to take this class during Sophomore or Junior Year.
