Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

Stage 1: 

• Dizziness

• Altered Level of Consciousness 

• Patient may not feel significant symptoms at this stage related directly to CKD

Stage 2:

• Dizziness

• Change in Level of Consciousness 

• Pain during urination

Stage 3:

• Fatigue 

• weakness

• Swelling in hands or feet (edema)

• Dry or itchy skin

• Lower back pain

• Muscle cramps

• Trouble sleeping or restless leg syndrome

• Changes in urination (more or less frequent than usual)

• Foamy or darker-colored urine

Stage 4:

• Fatigue and weakness

• Swelling in arms or legs (edema)

• Changes in urination (more or less frequent)

• Lower back pain

• Muscle cramps

• Nausea and vomiting

• Loss of appetite

Stage 5:

• Fatigue and weakness

• Swelling in the arms, hands, legs, or feet (edema)

• Producing little or no urine

• Headaches

• Lower back pain

• Muscle cramps

• Nausea and vomiting

• Loss of appetite

• Trouble breathing

• Changes in skin color
