Our “Zoom room”
One of the big changes we’ve made this year in response to the pandemic is our “Zoom room”. Thanks to the Zoom meetings system, we can gather virtually even though we can’t be together in person. We’ve used Zoom for worship but also for prayer groups, book studies, hymn sings, and social times.
You can join our meetings online via your computer, tablet, or mobile device by going to https://upcbgm.org/zoom. If you’ve never used Zoom before, you’ll be prompted to download the Zoom meetings app, which will ask for permission to use your microphone and your camera. We use our “Personal Meeting ID” for worship and most of our programs, so they’re always in the same familiar place.
You can also call in over the phone, if you don’t have a microphone on your device or you can’t join online. To join as a phone call:

Staying together, apart
Staying together, apart
All are invited to join in our Zoom groups that meet during the week. They’re a great way to stay connected with the church community, even if we can’t gather in person.
Bible Study: Mondays, 12:00–1:00pm on Zoom
We choose a specific book of the Bible and then do “deep reading” of that book, verse by verse, over the course of several weeks. We are reading to learn what we missed in Sunday school and what gets lost in preaching — to understand the Bible as the story of God’s people and their relationship to God and the world. We don’t always find answers, but we always learn from the text and from each other! Come and see — it would be good to have you with us.
Sewing Group lunchtime social hour: Wednesdays, 12:00–1:00pm on Zoom
Even though we can’t get together in person to work on our quilts, the Sewing Group continues to work at home and gathers virtually for our social lunchtime each Wednesday at noon. Everyone is welcome; bring your own lunch and enjoy the company.
UPC Choir rehearsal: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7–8pm on Zoom
The UPC choir meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month via Zoom. We’re learning music that we’ll then record at home, individually. Our worship production team is then able to assemble all of the individual recordings into a whole choir to include in our worship videos. New members are always welcome!
Zoom Cocktail hour: Friday evenings, 5:00–6:00pm
Bring your own beverage, “Zoom in”, and join the fun as we catch up on the events of the week and share how we’re doing. You never know who you might see — or what they might be wearing!
