Up2Us Sports is a coalition of more than 1,390 nonprofit organizations that believe in the power of sports to fight childhood obesity, end academic failure, and reduce gang participation. Up2Us Coach is a national coach/mentor program that places, trains, and supports coaches to provide meaningful experiences to more than 284,000 youth in a variety of sports programs nationwide.
AmeriCorps works hand in hand with local partners to take on the challenges facing our nation. Up2Us Sports is a proud member of the AmeriCorps community. AmeriCorps members are not employees of the Program or of the federal government. As such, "a participant (Americorps member) shall not be an employee of the Program in which the participant is enrolled". Moreover, members may not perform an employee's duties or displace employees and are not eligible for unemployment compensation.
Position Overview
YES is hiring two part-time (16-20 hours/week) positions who are responsible for a range of activities related to program execution with a focus on direct service with youth ages 6-18. The Up2Us Coaches will spend time in the field with groups mid-week and some weekends year-round.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities
• Support track and field program: lead volunteer coaches and youth participants
• Provide direct service to Boston youth using outdoor activities (rock climbing, hiking, biking, paddle sports, skiing and snowboarding) as a vehicle to build confidence and leadership skills.
• Coach groups of youth in sports-based youth development programs
• Support program promotion, recruitment, registration, attendance, and surveys
• Provide group/behavior management, ensure safety and lead goal setting for youth in programs.
• Build trusting relationships with YES partners, families, and community members.
• Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Up2Us Sports’ best in class training events
• Perform data collection activities, as directed by your Up2Us Sports Program Manager
Requirements & Competencies
• Completion of the minimum required hours of service/training by last day of contract
• Positive role model, able to gain the respect and trust of the community and youth served
• High school Diploma, some post-secondary course work preferred
• 2+ years of experience working with children in an education, camp or similar setting
• Desire to work outside and an interest in outdoor adventure
• Enthusiastic self-motivator, able to problem solve.
• Passion for the YES mission to create opportunities for urban youth; cultural competence
• Completion of data collection plan and bi-weekly reflection logs & timesheets
• Attend/participate in Up2Us Sports trainings/orientations, meetings, and special events/initiatives
• Valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Service commitment to begin in August 2023 and end August 2024
Compensation
• Coaches receive a stipend of $9,000 for the year paid out bi-weekly through Up2Us.

Founded in 1970, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC) provides care to more than 70,000 patients in East Boston and the neighboring communities. Our diverse, low-income, medically underserved community has one of the largest Latino populations in Massachusetts. Many families are first-generation immigrants, and over half of East Boston households are primarily non-English. EBNHC provides services regardless of socioeconomic status, insurance status, race, language, or culture. Let's Get Movin' (LGM) was founded by EBNHC in 2005 to address rising rates of pediatric obesity in the local community. LGM is a multifaceted lifestyle change program which focuses on helping children, teens and their families adopt healthier lifestyles, with a particular focus on physical activity and nutrition. LGM optimizes the impact of scarce program resources by targeting most of its effort toward children diagnosed by EBNHC pediatricians as overweight or obese. LGM's program components are based on best practices from the medical, nutrition, and public health communities. We work not only with individual children, but also in coordination with their families, schools, and the community at large to support healthier lifestyles.
Member Duties : Promote the development of a healthy lifestyle through the development and delivery of physical activity programming and nutrition education for youth during and after school. Develop mentoring relationships with program participants to provide opportunities to reinforce leading a healthy lifestyle. Assist in the running of family physical activity programming. Maintain documentation of program efforts and participation. Assist with fitness testing and program evaluation. Plan field trips for Let's Get Movin' youth to introduce children to resources both in their neighborhood and surrounding communities. Field trips engage children physically while introducing them to people, places, and activities they may not otherwise be exposed to. Create fliers and maintain field trip resource database.

Belafonte TACOLCY Center- Miami, FL (Liberty City)
Belafonte TACOLCY Center offers a wide array of sports programs which consist of football, cheerleading, basketball, track & field, and soccer and engages more than 400 youth and volunteers annually. Their program teaches discipline and team work, encourages social and cultural awareness, and serves as an alternative to risky behavior that is so prevalent among the young population in the Liberty City area.
Belafonte TACOLCY is seeking seven Up2Us coaches serving through AmeriCorps. These coaches will coach one or two of the sports programs listed above, which consist of daily practices, games on weekends, and events at the TACOLCY Center and with Up2Us Sports.
Position Details:

South Bronx United - Bronx, NY
Up2Us Coach-Mentor (FT & PT Opportunties Available)
SCOPE
South Bronx United is seeking energetic individuals with a passion for youth development and sports to join the Up2Us Coaching program. Each South Bronx United Up2Us member will serve as the mentor and head or assistant soccer coach for a youth team, after-school program, or community soccer program in the South Bronx. Up2Us members will have an additional focus area, either helping with coordination and coaching or assisting with coordination and program delivery of the SBU After School Tutoring/College Prep Programs. Up2Us members will have the gain professional experience and skills in the fields of education, teaching, counseling, and coaching while working in a growing sports-based youth development nonprofit organization.
The full time position requires 35-40 hours a week. A part-time position is available and requires approximately 15-20 hours/week. A living stipend will be offered in accordance with the Up2Us position policies (see details below). Those who complete the year have been considered for other staff and coaching positions at SBU, but opportunities for employment are not guaranteed.
In addition to site-specific duties at South Bronx United, members are also responsible for the following Up2Us program requirements: Completing timesheets; Attending the Up2Us National Coaching Institute, Attending professional development and training seminars every other month; Reflecting on their work in guided reflection logs; and Participating in a National Day of Service
The Up2Us program is an intense experience and members are asked to go above and beyond each and every day at their hosts site (South Bronx United). Being a part of the Up2Us program connects members both with their local communities and a larger national movement of people dedicated to serving youth through sports. Up2Us positions are offered in conjunction with the AmeriCorps or Office of Juvenile Justice mentorship programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a coach-mentor, the Up2Us member will:
Serve as first point of staff level contact for a group of approximately 20 youth (mentees).
Help plan, set, and keep students on their program schedule.
Maintain weekly contact with mentees in person and via phone.
Maintain regular contact with mentees’ parent/guardian.
Maintain good communication with SBU office staff, in-person and electronically.
Enforce attendance and program policies.
Track attendance data from soccer and academic sessions
Assist with the coordination of the SBU recreational program, supporting volunteer soccer coaches, leading recreational practices, and helping with coach trainings.
Depending on the program, coach-mentors may also:
Monitor student academic performance, and assist in the collection of student report cards, transcripts, and school documents.
Work with SBU Youth Counselor and Education Director to identify social, emotional, and academic issues or concerns.
Serve as a head or assistant coach for 1 SBU travel soccer team, planning and leading training sessions, coaching at games, and traveling with students to games and events.
SCHEDULE
The term of service runs one year: late August - late August. The following hours are approximate, times may change slightly
Full-Time Position: Five days/week. Usually Tuesday - Saturday; or Saturday - Wednesday depending on the program. 12-8pm or 10-6pm on weekdays; 8am - 4pm on program weekends.
Part-Time Position: Approximately 15-20 hours per week, primarily afternoon and/or evening times, and weekend times. Times may change slightly depending on the program and time of year.
COMPENSATION

QUALIFICATIONS
Enthusiastic to work with youth, committed to holistic youth development with a strong knowledge of soccer. Previous coaching experience is not a necessity. Coach/Mentors with an Academic Focus should have a strong academic background and feel comfortable with SAT level math and English. Coach must also be a us citizen or permanent resident.

Uptown Soccer - New York, NY
Up2Us Sports is partnering with Uptown Soccer in New York, NY to hire 1 Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps coach to coach their drop-in training programs, school based programs and recreational leagues for under-served youth in Northern Manhattan. We are looking for 1 coach to serve a 900 hour service term (about 20 hours per week) starting in August 2022 and ending in August 2023.
Up2Us coach will work with specific teams in our recreational league, as well as working with youth in our drop-in program and school-based programs. Coaches will be responsible for planning sessions, delivering age appropriate practices and coaching games in our recreational league.
Coach Qualifications:

Soccer Without Borders is partnering with Up2Us sports. Soccer Without Borders is looking for dynamic full time Coach-Mentors (1700 hours) to serve at Soccer Without Borders’ sports-based youth development programs in Greeley, Colorado.

SQuash Programs
Squashwise - Baltimore, MD
We are seeking squash players, athletes, or coaches who want to join our team as the Up2Us Sports/High School
Squash Coordinator. The Coordinator leads a thriving squash/sports/fitness and
wellness program with a good balance of hard work, competitiveness, and fun, meeting the needs of
squash players of various levels of play and interest. The Coordinator plans and coaches high school
squash/sports/fitness and wellness programming and assists with planning matches, tournaments,
camps, and clinics. The Coordinator supports students to make positive decisions and achieve their
goals. The Coordinator tracks student progress, actively communicates with teachers and
parents/guardians, leads field trips, and recruits and manages volunteer coaches. This position reports
to the Director of Squash. While squash experience is a plus, candidates with other sports and coaching
experience are welcome to apply; SquashWise will provide training in squash as needed.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Direct Service (75%): The High School Squash Coordinator plans and coaches all high school
squash/sports/fitness and wellness programming and assists with planning squash matches,
tournaments, camps, and clinics.
● Plan goal-oriented fitness and wellness lessons for students at a variety of levels and
interests
● Lead fun and effective squash/fitness/racquet sport sessions that promote proper
movement mechanics and healthy activity among high school students
● Build caring, supportive, meaningful relationships with students
● Participate in new student recruitment and squash tryout sessions
● Participate in community outreach and engagement activities as needed
● Support squash tournament selections and enrollment for high school students

Gainesville Tennis Association is seeking two Half-time (900 hour) coaches to serve youth during their after-school program by teaching them Tennis fundamentals and technique, as well as lead other activities lead through the program (i.e., homework help, community engagement, etc.). Coaches would serve approximately 20 hours per week starting 1/1/23 - 12/20/23.
The AIM Afterschool program is provided by Aces In Motion provides a safe, structured and enriching space for middle and high school age youth during the out-of-school time hours of 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Position Requirements:
AmeriCorps is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have, or be working towards High School diploma, GED, or equivalent : Associate Degree preferred
Must have access to reliable transportation
Successful completion of criminal history background checks
Ability to perform all job requirements satisfactorily
Ability to read and understand English language, assist with middle and high-school age homework, observe children during activities, respond to children’s needs, and assist in evacuation of the building during emergencies
Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire
Other requirements as required by regulatory agencies
Requires daily standing, sitting, bending and stooping
Requires normal range of hearing and vision
Requires the ability to lift 40 pounds
Coaches will be placed at Aces In Motion facilities in Gainesville, FL (Duval Elementary, TB McPherson Recreational Center, and Oakview Park Community Center)
