During floods, we often see the image of the resilient Filipino: smiling on live TV, adapting in the face of crisis. Yet this image is disheartening, especially now that Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control projects have emerged as one of the country’s biggest scandals.
...but what about social psychological imagination? What is it and how can we use it in our research?

We are thrilled to share that we have organized a symposium entitled “Citizenship Views and Views of Citizens on Current Social Issues.” This symposium delves into Filipinos’ broader conceptions of citizenship, their attitudes towards current issues, and the psychological underpinnings of their political cognitions and participation.
Last 13-15 June 2024, lab member Prof. Paul Labor, attended the Workshop on Political Psychology in East Asia hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof. Labor presented the proposal on an ongoing study with Dr. Simonh Bries entitled, “Philippine Social Representations of Democracy.”
