The history of the library has been tied up with the history of the College of Nursing in the University of the Philippines. It is established in 1948 by the 519th BOR Meeting with Dean Julita Villaruel Sotejo as the first dean.    

From 1949 to 1979, the College of Nursing and its library was located at UP Diliman campus. It became part of the Health Sciences Center Complex on January 24, 1979 by virtue of Executive Order no. 519. In 1984, the library was transferred back to Padre Faura. On February 1997, with the inauguration of the College of Nursing building located between the NIH and the new College of Dentistry building, the library had its permanent home, the College of Nursing Building, along Pedro Gil St., Ermita Manila.

The collection grew from 60 volumes (initial collection) to 15,383 volumes as of 2009 covers major subject areas in Nursing, Physiology, Anatomy, Pharmacology, Therapeutics, Human Development, Community Health Nursing, Nursing Administration, Curriculum Planning, Ecology, Maternal & Child Health, Statistics, and Program Evaluation.

In 2014, library collection reached a total of 23, 517 volumes of books, bound periodicals, undergraduate thesis, pamphlets, vertical files, and audiovisual materials. 

Ms. Marybel P. Caasi, librarian from the CAMP Library transferred at the  Library to replace Ms. Rita Yusi as College Librarian-in- Charge. At Present, Ms. Caasi, Ms. Aquino and Ms. Breis are the library staff facilitating and providing information to library clients.
