Conservation status: Endangered (IUCN 3.1). DAO (2017-11) category: Critically Endangered. EcoClass: Endemic.
Endangered plant species are rapidly declining due to various anthropogenic factors, threatening biodiversity globally. This study investigates the current conservation status of endangered plant species worldwide, identifies key threats, and evaluates the effectiveness of different conservation strategies. Habitat destruction, climate change, invasive species, and over-exploitation are the major drivers of plant species decline. In-situ conservation (protected areas, habitat restoration) and ex-situ conservation (seed banks, botanical gardens) are essential strategies for preserving endangered species. However, the lack of funding, political support, and public awareness hinder the effectiveness of flora research.
Location: Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, Philippines Notes: Ultramafic forests, area 444.1 Hectares

DAO (2017-11)/IUCN listings: Numerous Critically Endangered tree species.
Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are specific sites or areas that are globally important for the conservation of biodiversity. These areas are identified based on their significance for the persistence of species, habitats, and ecosystems.
Our Approach is aligned with PHCM: The “Key Biodiversity Area” (KBA) approach presents an appropriate framework for identifying fine-scale conservation priorities in the Philippines. These globally significant and conservation priorities sites provide the building blocks for landscape-level conservation planning and maintaining effective ecological networks aimed at preventing biodiversity loss. The goal of KBA approach is to identify, document, and protect network of sites for the conservation of globally important biodiversity (those assessed as critically endangered according to IUCN Red List).
