The UPD Dalub-Isipan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino or Sikolohiyang Pilipino (SP) Collective is a collective of scholars, teachers, researchers, practitioners, and students working towards the advancement of Sikolohiyang Pilipino. We are committed to promoting a free, liberating, and transformative psychology (sikolohiyang malaya, mapagpalaya, at mapagpabagong-isip). We aspire to transform communities towards attaining a just and caring Filipino society.
We realize our mission and goals through teaching, research, and extension:
Teaching. We conduct teacher training and workshops on Sikolohiyang Pilipino (SP) and indigenous research methods to build capacity for educators, community workers, professionals, and students. We also develop teaching materials, such as course syllabi, lecture videos, and activity guides, to help in SP teaching and instruction.
Research. We conduct basic and applied research focusing on investigating the intricate relationship between culture and psychological processes, advancing cultural and indigenous psychology, and prioritizing decolonial approaches. Our members also have their own research programs that contribute to developing concepts and theories in Filipino psychology.
Public engagement. We act as resource persons in seminars, public lectures, fora, and conferences about various topics, and especially those related to Sikolohiyang Pilipino. We hold activities to engage the public about the issues and developments in Filipino psychology.
Program development. We design culture-sensitive programs and interventions. We partner with organizations to help them design and develop programs and interventions that are sensitive to Filipino culture and realities.
The UPD Dalub-Isipan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino was established in March 2024. It is one of the laboratories under the Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
