UP College of Public Health at the Forefront of Health Systems and Public Health
As the national university, the University of the Philippines is mandated to set academic standards and pioneer innovations in teaching, research, and public service. Within this system, the University of the Philippines Manila College of Public Health (UP CPH) has long served as a leading institution in developing health sector leaders and advancing public health scholarship. Its seven academic departments continue to generate high-quality research and technical expertise, producing 93 research projects and 66 publications in the 2022–2023 academic year.
UP CPH’s partnerships further strengthen its leadership role in health systems development. Through collaborations with the Zuellig Family Foundation and the Department of Health, the College has supported capacity-building programs for Local Chief Executives, equipping them to effectively steer and transform their local health systems.
Considering its mandate and institutional strengths, UP CPH is uniquely positioned to serve as the national center for health equity. Consistent with its Vision and Mission, the Zuellig family donated a grant in 2021 to establish the Program for Health Equity, which was formally launched in March 2023 and fully operationalized with the appointment of the Program Coordinator in August 2023.
The Program for Health Equity is anchored within the governance structure of the UP Manila College of Public Health. Positioned under the Office of the Dean, the Program collaborates closely with the College’s academic and administrative units to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and support coordinated implementation of its activities.
