Bernard Alan "BA" Racoma, PhD heads the GeoSTORM lab where he focuses on research in meteorology and environmental science. He also serves as Director of the Education Division of the UP Resilience Institute. With a background in applied physics, geology, and dual PhDs in meteorology and climate science, his work emphasizes understanding tropical cyclones and extreme weather, earth observation, data science, and disaster risk reduction. In 2023, he was recognized by the UP Diliman College of Science as the Most Outstanding PhD graduate and received the Edgardo Gomez Award for Best Dissertation.
BA is committed to mentoring future scientists and policymakers and to advancing interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches to research. He also advocates for clear science communication and constructive conversations between researchers, decision-makers, and the public.
