Research Interests: Quantum transport, quantum thermodynamics, quantum devices and engines, phase transitions and critical phenomena
My research interests are in the study of the dynamics of electrons, phonons, and spin in nanosystems where time-varying components are present. Using Nonequilibrium Green’s Functions, I am investigating the relaxation time, response time, and other time-dependent quantum transport properties of electrons, phonons, and spin in nanojunctions. I am also exploring the effects of electron-phonon, electron-photon, electron-electron, and spin-spin interactions. My research group is also interested in investigating the quantum dynamics of classically chaotic systems, critical phenomena of disordered interacting quantum systems, and the modeling of exotic materials via exact diagonalization and quantum Monte Carlo methods. I am originally from Bacolod City (the City of Smiles) where "ang kwarta ginapala lang ya sa kilid dalan". I earned my B.S. Physics from the University of the Philippines Diliman and my Ph.D. Physics from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A. I was previously a postdoc at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and the National University of Singapore. I was also a Diploma student in High Energy Physics at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy.
I was previously the President of the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines) in 2021.
I am blissfully married to Jacq and we are always on the lookout for opportunities to teach physics and inspire those who are interested to try to dig deeper into the beauty and intricacies of physics. At home, our time is mostly occupied by our adorable and energetic 9 labrador retrievers.
