The research undertaken is about Tanglaw Pag-asa residents’ modular learning experiences.
The initial stage of the project proved to be the most challenging due to the difficulty in finding an institution to collaborate with for the research/special project. A total of five institutions/ schools were visited/explored but most of these could not participate in this project due to various factors like scheduling conflicts and difficulty in obtaining permission to conduct research from the key personnel of these institutions.
To address this, ideas and suggestions about possible institutions that could participate in this project were crowdsourced from peers and family members until the agreement with Tanglaw Pag-asa Youth Rehabilitation Center, the subject of this research, was closed and finalized. Coordination was constantly done with the personnel of Tanglaw Pag-asa to set the schedule and establish the process of the research.
Through the data collected from a total of three participants, the study found that to create effective learning experiences for children in conflict with the law, one must be fully aware of and understand how they learn best and what motivates them.
Through this research, I was able to affirm the importance of education research in improving teaching and learning processes in various forms and levels of education to provide more meaningful learning experiences for students. Conducting a literature review on existing education problems is crucial to identifying a relevant and timely topic for this research project. Lastly, selecting appropriate data collection and analysis methods is also essential to gain a deeper understanding of the research problem.
I was also able to confirm that there is a need to develop a more flexible education system that caters to a wider variety of learners under various circumstances. Knowledge of learning theories and Universal Design for Learning principles is essential in designing learning experiences anchored on students’ holistic development. These theories and principles lay the foundation for creating a conducive learning environment for learners and ensuring optimal learning.
For CICLs who are the subjects of this research, education-focused interventions, alongside psychosocial support, are necessary to encourage their full participation in society. Their learning experiences should be enhanced through familiarity with the factors that motivate them and their learning preferences.
To conclude, I gained insights into modular learning’s effectiveness for learners in special circumstances by delving into Tanglaw Pag-asa residents' daily experiences through this research project.
