Certification Course for Water Refilling Station and Plant Operators (CCWRSPO)
The Certification Course for Water Refilling Station and Plant Operators is a 40-hour course being offered by the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila, in partnership with the Department of Health. As stated in section 9.5.1 of the Supplemental Implementing Rules and Regulations on Chapter II – Water Supply of Code on Sanitation (PD 856), attendance to the certification course is a requirement for water refilling station (WRS) owners and operators to secure their sanitary permits from their respective Local Health Offices.
The certification course covers the following topics:
Ecology - discusses the sources of pollution
Laws and IRR related to Water Refilling Stations - discusses existing provisions of laws and regulations related to water supply.
Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water - discusses the different drinking water standards
Hydrology - discusses the water cycle and water sources
Water Chemistry - discusses the different physico-chemical properties of water and their health effects
Microbiology - discusses the different water-related diseases caused by microorganisms in water
Parasitology - discusses the different water-related diseases caused by parasites in water
Water Treatment Technology - discusses the different water treatment technologies
Plumbing - discusses the plumbing layout for refilling stations
Setting up a Water Refilling Station - discusses the setting-up of a WRS
Operation and Maintenance of a Water Refilling Station - discusses the maintenance of the water refilling system
Environmental Health Engineering - discusses the general principles of environmental health in relation to water supply provision
Water Safety Plan - discusses the identification of the critical control points in water purification systems and enumerates prevention control measures for the identified critical control points
