About the CPH Research Office

The College of Public Health (CPH), with its diverse disciplines, is well-equipped to undertake a wide range of research—from basic health studies to policy development initiatives addressing critical public health issues. Its broad research agenda provides opportunities for faculty-led projects, undergraduate special studies, and graduate theses and dissertations.
To support this endeavor, the CPH Research Office was established to expand the functions of the college Research Committee, whose role is limited to technical and ethical reviews of proposals. The Research Office now serves as a central hub to facilitate the research process for faculty, REPS, and students. Its ultimate goal is to strengthen the research culture of the College while building and enhancing research capabilities.
Functions of the Research Office:
  • Monitor research activities of CPH constituents to maintain a registry and database of ongoing and completed projects.
  • Assist in securing research grants and establishing collaborations and linkages.
  • Implement research-related policies and guidelines, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for technical review, ethical guidelines for research involving humans and animals, and regulations on biosafety and bioprospecting.
  • Support the dissemination of CPH research outputs and promote incentive mechanisms for publication.

The Research Office operates under the Office of the Dean and Center Director and is headed by the Associate Dean for Research, who also chairs the College Research Committee. The committee is composed of faculty representatives from the seven departments of the College, tasked primarily with conducting technical reviews of research proposals. The office is staffed by a University Research Associate and is located at Room 200, Administrative Office, CPH Annex II Expansion Building, UP Manila.
