My Immediate Universe

"My Immediate Universe” is an experimental electronic music album that dwells on the platform of creating music during unprecedented times, with its conception being predicated upon the immediacy of one’s reality and purview, especially in the limited scope of each individual’s surroundings. With the musicians’ physical limitations, efforts on propagating our universe to the public have been restricted to online platforms, thus the musicians propose to utilize the potential of the online medium and technological advancements. The album embodies an aural representation of the process of music-making with an effort to express one’s isolated experience with a larger community.

The Philippine educational system has not been updated in terms of using more filipino folk songs in our curriculum. Therefore, not being able to maximise the kaleidoscope of the rich cultural heritage as a reference for teaching music education. This project aims to bring lesser-known folk songs to school, and to the masses through entertaining music videos. In this way, we can help uphold patriotism and promote the appreciation of our own cultural identity.

Gunita: A Virtual Exhibit

This project is an online virtual museum that features selected Filipino national artists namely: Ryan Cayabyab, Alice Reyes, Lucio San Pedro, and Dr. Ramon P. Santos, via an online VR platform called Art Steps. The goal of this project is to inspire a bigger project in the future that is accessible, interactive, and comprehensive with complete information on all of the Filipino National Artists.

In line with the current happenings in our country, the music students of MuP 194 Group 2 wanted to maximize the help they can give. The students developed 3 main goals for them to use in producing and organizing the said virtual concert.

1) To raise awareness in fighting Covid-19 through music performance

2) To fuel the patriotism of the audience and listeners

3) To raise funds for our beneficiary- UP Silungang Molave and PCF Community Pantry

A curation of videos and interviews depicting the online setting of the Up College of Music Faculty during the Covid 19 pandemic. Performing and teaching music has, before this pandemic, always been face - to - face, or in person. This new situation of community quarantine and travel restrictions has forced performers and artists to find new avenues in which to perform and impart their skills. Namely, the internet.

Music Workbook

Recently, it has been observed that despite the pandemic, music education has

become more accessible. This was due to the advent of different media platforms that

flooded the market. While information within these platforms can easily be altered, it

risks to cause misinformation, especially among elementary and high school students. Due to the circumstances faced by the researchers, the group proposed the creation of a music workbook that will serve as a guide for grades 5 and 6 students to further understand and clarify 2 of the basic elements of music namely; pitch and rhythm.

MusiKamp

MusiKamp is a virtual camp that arose from the goal of bringing the world of music to people from all walks of life. Through the use of video assisted- learning, MusiKamp provided basic music theory education to an online community in the 21st century society. The project operated on a goal and a plan that synthesized knowledge obtained from personal experiences, primary educational resources, formal music education and real-life observations both from past and present experiences which will then in turn, create an impact to the future of music and non- music individuals.

Philippine Folk Songs: A Song Cycle

Philippine Folk Songs: A Song Cycle is a project that aims to showcase different student-written arrangements and compositions based on Philippine folk songs and games. The chosen folk-material comes from Kinaray-a, Ilocano, Illonggo, and Tagalog traditions. The song cycle's instrumentation is for Piano, Voice, Violin, and Cello.
