After talking to Kagawad Joeanne Cosio, our group came to the conclusion that despite the many projects done by the barangay, some residents still remain clueless and fail to follow the rules and regulations. Thus, it is difficult for the place to be 100% clean. With this, our group decided to propose a project that will aid in eliminating the little pollution left in the area. We hope to disseminate information to the public regarding their responsibilities by producing both physical and digital copies of posters and other materials.
CURRENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Our group has been able to scout the area of our chosen barangay (Barangay Mariana). We have surveyed the streets and have taken pictures of the local scenery with the existing environmental issue in the neighborhood.
Not only that, we have been able to go to the barangay hall and talk face to face with the head Kagawad for the environment (or the term they use in the barangay, eco-aide), Joanne Fatima Cosio. After the introductions were done, we asked the questions that we thought would be relevant in shaping our plan and helping us achieve our goal of helping the community and the environment through an information drive.
We learned about their current projects to help their local environment: waste segregation, Trash to Cashback program, and grease collection. We also learned about their policies in collecting wastes and the schedules given for the specific type of trash that is to be collected for that certain day (Wednesdays are for biodegradable, Thursdays are for non-biodegradable, etc). She told us how they provided the neighborhood with trash bins. Lastly, we learned about their strict manner of enforcing their policies such as not collecting trash that is not segregated and fining the household that does not segregate their wastes.
From learning all this, we were able to refine our plan of action and have a better understanding of how to help our chosen barangay.
NEXT TARGET ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Since the aforementioned projects already exist to tackle possible environmental issues that can arise in a residential neighborhood, the issue Kagawad Joeanne raised was regarding the awareness of these residents of their responsibilities. She mentioned in particular that the average waste of each individual per day increased from 0.60kg a decade ago to 0.75kg. With this, the increase of trash collected affects the efficiency of existing projects such as their waste segregation project. There has also been a problem with reminding the residents of the area that residential sidewalk trash is the responsibility of the residents residing in the house it is in front of. Knowing that the issue highlighted by the kagawad is the lack of awareness, we aim to propose in our next meeting with them an information drive for the residents about these environmental projects the barangay is implementing. We also plan to assist in the utilization of their Facebook page to disseminate information, through publication materials they can post monthly. With this project, we aim to connect the residents of the barangay to the barangay council, to maximize the implementation of the existing projects.

PLAN OF ACTION
After holding the follow-up meeting with Kagawad Joeanne Cosio, we were able to come across points that can be improved further in our general plan of action. The barangay residents are unaware of a few projects that have been implemented by the barangay recently, the “Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG)” and the “Trash to Cash Back” projects. Therefore, our group plans on focusing our information drive on disseminating the two specific projects, in addition to a summarization of the existing projects Barangay Mariana is currently doing. We hope that by doing this, we will be able to help the barangay in their efforts in cleaning and recycling for the environment.
CURRENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
We were able to have our follow-up meeting with Kagawad Joeanne Fatima Cosio on the 1st of April 2023, in the barangay hall of Mariana. In the meeting, we presented the publication material drafts that our group has made of the Trash to Cash Back Project, Waste Segregation Project, and Grease Collection Project and printed them to provide to Kagawad Joeanne. We consulted her about the details of the publication materials and on which points of the design to improve on. By doing this, we were able to further “streamline” our plans and publication materials, increasing the effectiveness of our proposals.
We learned about the Barangay’s struggle with two specific projects, the “Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG)” project and the “Trash to Cashback” project. Some of the residents are unaware of the full mechanics of the project. An example that Kagawad Joeanne gave is the recycling of single-use plastics such as packets and sachets. They also mentioned that they struggled with the HAPAG project due to the residents forgetting to record their progress in following the project, which they need to report its success to the higher government.
NEXT TARGET ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Since the group primarily focuses on information dissemination, we decided to make sample posters containing the three mentioned existing environmental projects in Barangay Mariana: Waste Segregation, Trash to Cashback Program, and Grease Collection. After gaining the approval of Kagawad Joanne Cosio with the design of the sample posters, the next plan of the group is to make some improvements with the content and focus on the two said existing projects in which many of the residents are unaware of, namely the Trash to Cashback Program and HAPAG. Then, the group will send a digital copy of the final posters of the said pubmats to Ms. Dida Salita, the social media manager of the barangay, and have it posted on their official Facebook page. Moreover, the group will set a timeline for all the possible posting dates in order for the residents to properly see the posters. Lastly, physical copies of the aforementioned materials will be distributed to the people to accommodate those who do not use the internet as often.

PLAN OF ACTION
Posters focusing on projects such as the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) have been created by the group as samples for future publication materials that they aim to share to the residents. In order to get the information out to the public, the group hopes to get the approval of the barangay captain and post the works they have made online.
CURRENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Apart from the group meeting the kagawad and discussing their project goals with her, they were also able to complete the necessary website contents and sample publication materials that they will use as a basis for future works. In particular, the group was able to create a publication material for the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) project, which the kagawad requested for us to create as one of the two main projects they wanted to promote within their barangay. Lastly, the group has also devised a plan to distribute physical copies of the materials to the people as not everyone has access to the social media platforms.
NEXT TARGET ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In order to disseminate the information to the people, the group will create posters and other works to be posted in the barangay’s social media accounts. Before doing so, they must email the materials to the respective email given to them in order to gain the approval of the barangay captain.
