After careful examination of the Vitex trifolia complex in the Philippines, we propose reinstating V. elmeri Moldenke and delineating V. arvensis Gentallan, Sengun & M.B.Bartolome as a new endemic species predominantly found under cultivation.
This newly delineated species graced the volume cover of PhytoKeys.
The following are our key findings.
1. We do not have 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘹 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘰 s. str. in the Philippines.
2. We predominantly use 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘹 𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 Gentallan, Sengun & M.B.Bartolome, a newly delineated endemic species in the Philippines.
3. We use all five species of the 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘹 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢 complex as medicinal "lagundi", and the dichotomous key to identify these species is presented.
