At the 1st National Soil Health Summit, held on June 21-22, 2023, at Diamond Hotel Philippines, the R&D on Black Soldier Fly project was presented by Dr. Fleurdeliz Maglangit. The 37th Philippine Chemistry Congress, held July 26-28, 2023, at SMX Convention Center, Bacolod City, focused on "Chemistry for Agriculture 4.0 and Food Security." The National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW) 2023, held from November 22nd to 25th at the Iloilo Convention Center in Iloilo City, brought together leading research innovations from across the Philippines. We are honored to highlight that the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Project was invited to participate as a key resource speaker and featured exhibitor. During the Technoforum on "Agricultural Management for a Sustainable Green Economy" on November 24th, 2023, the BSF Project Leader shared her expertise and showcased groundbreaking advancements. The 12th Annual International Conference on Environmental Science was held from 6-8 November 2024 at Palawan State University in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Dr. Fleurdeliz Maglangit presented her research on the potential of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) gut as a promising source of natural products, highlighting its unique microbial community that could yield novel bioactive compounds for pharmaceutical or biotechnological applications.
The Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting (VRSM) took place on May 27-28, 2024, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, with the theme "Beyond Farm Productivity: Transforming the Philippines Food System." Hosted by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), the event featured our accepted abstract, "Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Farming for Agricultural Productivity and Waste Management," which we presented at the Scientific Poster Session Competition. Our presentation, titled "Sustainable Management of Quail, Chicken, and Pig Manure Using Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens L.)," contributed valuable insights into innovative waste management practices and their potential impact on sustainability in agricultural systems.
