Writing, for me, began as something foreign, an unexpected turn in my 19 years of living. Initially, it felt like a distant dream, a skill I never thought I could master. But as I embarked on this journey, as a first-year BA English Major in Creative Writing student, I realized that writing isn't about innate talent; it’s about sharing the stories that shape us. My experiences—both the joyful and the painful—have given me the raw material to explore the world through words.
I write to make sense of the experiences that define me, to confront my past, and to heal. Through my writing, I’ve uncovered the strength within myself, especially when telling stories that are deeply personal. Writing has become not just an academic pursuit, but a means of self-expression and growth. It allows me to reflect, to process, and to connect with others who might find meaning in my words. It’s an act of creation, a way to transform thoughts and emotions into something tangible. In writing, I hope to find clarity and, ultimately, joy in the process. Through each draft, I’m learning to embrace my imperfections, and that’s why I continue to write.
