Welcome to Aural Habilitation!
This course provides information on the different objective and behavioral evaluation procedures for hearing and auditory skills, and integrate the different assessment results to identify the appropriate goals and habilitation approaches for children with hearing impairment. Materials in this site are supplements for synchronous discussions.
The course is divided into 3 parts:
Part 1 would focus on the review of concepts you have learned during Speech and Hearing Sciences and Introduction to Audiology. At the end of part 1, you should be able to interpret an audiogram, and identify the difficulties that a child with hearing impairment would encounter in his/her development.
Part 2 would focus on the behavioral hearing assessments that an SLP does in the clinic. At the end of the second part of this course, you should be able to conduct and write a comprehensive case history, identify and execute the appropriate tool for evaluation, and integrate the assessment results.
Part 3 would focus on goal setting, and identifying the appropriate goals for intervention. At the end of this course you should be able to identify the most appropriate habilitation approach, and execute strategies for targeted goals.
This website will primarily focus on Part 1 of the course.
