ABOUT THE DESIGNER

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" I remember the time in first grade when I had to answer that very same question. I wanted to be an architect as the title was unique, but I had little to no idea of what architects really do. I only had some exposure to designing and building structures from the architectural magazines I used to read back in my parents' office.

Fast forward to today, I am now pursuing a degree in architecture. I have experienced a glimpse of being an architect and I can say the experience is fun and fulfilling. I have always been keen on detail, which is a time-consuming trait when modeling and programming. There is always a grind to produce a satisfying output, but seeing the design come to life is the most rewarding experience.

This particular design was my best example yet of a laborious but fulfilling design. Completing the final renders after 5 months of conceptualization, development, and finishing had me in awe as all the big ideas and the tiniest details blended in harmony to create the Flight of the Roof.

The designer speaks in detail about the design process and development of the Flight of the Roof. Starting with an empty lot in 113 Matimtiman St., proper contextualization of the site and its conditions brought to life an adaptive and sustainable housing project.
