The Overview

The Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM), University of Peshawar being the pioneering public sector university offering degree level courses in Disaster Management intends to lead the learning process of how to manage disasters of different nature. The CDPM was inaugurated on April 04, 2009 by the Chancellor, University of Peshawar and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since its establishment it has started to undertake research in the field of Disaster Management. This centre aims at quality teaching, research and advisory services and the establishment of good working relationships with other organizations in the field of Disaster Management.

Objectives

  • The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform to exchange views on how to mainstream the practices of Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management into development.
  • CDPM via the conference aims at providing a platform for the integration of Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management into Policy Making.
  • Explore new techniques and methodologies in the field of Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management to enhance the existing knowledge and skills.
  • Through the conference CDPM would like to
      • Bridge the communication gap amongst the policy makers, disaster managers, academia and researchers.
      • Assess the possibility of implementation of various case studies in Pakistan and in other parts of the region.
      • Review the role of good governance in Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction which can ensure Sustainable Development.
